Jacksonville....suddenly Cut Off My Ativan

I have taking Ativan for 25 years in conjunction with my heart, severe anxiety , which my heart pills do not take care off.
If I don't have my Ativan, I get very anxious and eventual my heart goes out of rhythm.
Now my Cardiologist tells me I can't get them, because he is not allowed to prescribe them.
OMG, what can I do?

Just an update! I am living in Jacksonville, NC and this issue may have been partially resolved.
My Doctor lost his privilege to write scripts for anything other than heart meds, my Ativan
was part of the treatment due to high anxiety, which often leads to bad arrhythmias A-Fib. Ativan along with Aspirin and 2 of my heart pills usually get the A-Fib it back down, if not I have to go to ER.
My family Doctor was asked by my Cardiologist to take over the script, I heard the conversation, but once I got to his office, he declined.
The suggestion is now to see a Psychiatrist to get the Ativan, which upsets me, it is part of my
Heart treatment along with my heart pills, it's not a mental issue.
I feel my Cardiologist should have figured something out when he was curtailed from
writing other scripts, not heart related.
I won't get an appointment until mid June, so I will run out, which drives me crazy.....already, I'm so worried.
Anyone ever had this happening?

Hello, Blondie! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having.

And yes, this is happening all over the U.S. In your case, since the Ativan is not directly approved to treat any type of heart condition, your doctor can't write the prescription for you and you'd need to see a specialist under the new regulations.

Have you ever tried Clonidine? I'd suggest asking your doctor about trying it. It is approved to treat blood pressure and cardiac conditions, but also helps with anxiety and many other medical issues, as well.
