I have chewed them before.. it takes me like 5-6 oxy 15's to get high so I only chew a quarter of a 75mcg patch.. I'll chew it for a bit then save the rest for later on in the day. It all depends on ur tolerance. U obviously don't wanna go chewing a 100mcg patch if u've never taken any kind of opiate.

No. It can kill you by stopping your heart and depressing your breathing. Die or wake up in hospital attached to a ventalator.

I am sorry for your loss, my 32 year old aby brother died 3 months ago. It was terrible tohave to wait for the autopsy report but it was a fentanyl overdose, we found him face down in the bathroom at his house 2 days later. God I miss him.

It would be interesting to hear back from the original chewer(s) to hear what the outcome was. I worry about whether or not they are even alive to report their experience? Perhaps they err'd on the side of caution and decided not to try such a bold method of delivery? I can't help wondering what dissolving concentrated Fentanyl gel so close to the blood/brain barrier does to a human body? Maybe we don't want to know?

Please give some detail about your ritual. You can't just be chewing away at them. How long do you chew first pass? How long do you wait for second pass? Do you sliver the gel ones with a razor or scissors to make the drug more accessible? Y/N answers are worthless...good detail including weight/height/frequency etc. help one be more scientific. We are playing the odds but shouldn't "play" the science! RESPECT IT Use details from dependable others!

This is such a tired old topic. I'm so sick of hearing the same things over and over again.
Yes. Fentanyl is a VERY good, important drug. The transdermal delivery system is great since fent's 1/2-life is so short.
Yes. You can chew 'em, you can remove the gel...dry it out and smoke it. You can dissovle the patches and inject them.
People that have these "horror" strories seem to all have one thing in common. A universally naieve behavior when it comes to using these types of drugs which have an abuse potential.
Those people which have used drugs recreationally all seem to be wise about their use AND even their ABuse and don't seem to have these stories about how they almost died etc...
Personally, I have used just about every illicit drug on the planet. No, I'm not proud of it. I'm merely saying that some people are naive about using drugs in recreational manners and some are not.
I could of told you for example, that wearing a fentanyl patch in a hot tub would drastically increase the absorption of fentanyl into your system...without even trying it 1st. It's simply common sense. The moisture puts the drug into aqueous solution and it soaks into the skin along with the drug. The copious amounts of water in a bath are far greater than the water normally found in your skin. The heat also increases the amount and speed with which the drug dissolves.
Anyone who has taken a intro chemistry class knows that every 10 degree increase of heat in reaction approximately doubles its speed.
Not even thinking of that rule of thumb....it's just common sense.
Putting a piece of a patch in your WET, WARM mouth?....gee, what do you think will happen?
All you naieve people without common sense regarding human physiology, chemistry, pharmacology etc...stay away from drugs all together.
Actually, stay away from your stating your silly stories here as well. They are of no use to anyone.

I too used Fentanyl patches for 2 years and just wanted to also mention that getting into a hot-tub with a patch on was one of the worst mistakes of my life. I did it, not remembering to take my patch off prior to entering the tub, and in about two minutes, all I could do was just stand still--completely stunned and shocky. I felt my breath being suckedright outif me! Then I felt chest pain coming on and the next thing I know, I was waking up, lying on the concrete, with my husband frantically trying to cool me down. I could only mouth to him to pull the patch off! Then passed out again. Luckily he understood me and did so. I woke up the next day in the hospital, on a ventilator! It was breathing for me! Talk about scared! I'll never do that again as I almost died! It would be suicide to even TRY to chew on a patch. Please never try that.

Why? Why? STOP you are important! If God isn't ready for you....jeesh, this may not go as good as you thought. You are not supposed to take your life.

Only a doctor can answer that question. I have the stimulator and I've had it for 3 years. It's a miracle. I still have to wear the patches though. Just relax the patch will kick in. Why did you take it off?

Ok, you are simply crazy. One good way to overdose. People wear 25 mcq patches for 3 days. In no way should you "chew a patch". It will kill your stomach, no less you! If your dr. knew you were considering this...bye bye fentanyl patches! Hello drug treatment! If your patches aren't strong enough discuss with the Dr. but something tells me that you aren't prescribed the medication. Otherwise you would have read the nice pamphlet that comes in the box! I am in horrific pain... and I am on the patch. They work just fine for 72 hours, till it's time to change it!~

Sounds like you are in denial, at least have the balls to admit the situation for what it really is. You keep saying you are in "chronic pain that need strong pain meds to function" yet you talk about chewing it when in fact that is misuse of the medication and a method prefered by junkies.

If you really wanted to use it for chonic pain why would you even consider using a method such as chewing it which we all know causes an exteremely RAPID increase in tolerance thus rendering the medication useless in the long term. Fentanyl is already a drug that increases tolerance much quicker then all the other opiates especially when you abuse it. Chewing also makes the fentanyl effects last a lot shorter and if you were in severe chronic pain all day you would need to be chewing like a goat patch after patch. Chewing is fine for junkies because they get the hit they are after without being too concerned with the duration of the drug but for someone with chonic pain "duration" is a priority as you want to be as pain free as long as possible.
If you really want to manage pain then the 24/7 pain relief effects from using a patch on your skin as prescribed is ideal. Sure its not going give you a buzz when used that ay but if releiveing chronic pain is your priority then it shouldn't even matter. If fentanyl is ineffective for pain then there are plenty of other opiates avaliable such as Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, Morphine, Hydrocodone, Codene and most of them are also avaliable in an "extended release" to allow pain relief around the clock. I don't see why you would consider chewing as an option when you have many other much safer and effective alternatives avaliable.

People need to be responsiable when taking any medication. I am a nurse and the years of lifting has hurt my neck, back, arms knees. I have been on the patch for 15 years and I take myself off alittle at a time ,not all of it, but just so I do not build up a tolerance. With the doctors help of cours, this has worked for me. It is called being a responsiable with meication. Doctors and patients need more education on pain meds so people don't get themselves in a mess.People have been misusing pain meds which in turn will hurt the peopl who really need it. People need to talk and educate themselves and others and children. It is not for the high it is for pain. I would not be able to get out of bed if I did not have this medication. I hope this has been helpful.

..."They should take Fentanyl off the market"...???-What? I can't believe that people are soooo narrow minded they actually believe that garbage.

Really hurts people like me in chronic pain that need strong pain meds to function.
