I've been prescribed fentanyl 50mg pain patches and i was just wondering if it's okay to cut one in half an chew on it?

What did you go for and what were you looking for...u left out the details on what was going on with ya? U were focused on 2 white boys leaving with obvious problems and didn't say what was up with you...? Just wondering what is up here? Did u run out of med and want more and they wouldn't give them to you? Or? Cause they don't give them to you..unless u needed to be checked in to the hospital for what was going on and that's what u wanted then that was wrong but I'm just not understanding I guess..just wondering if u could give more detail..I got as much detail on the 2 white boys as I did on you..there is a lot of story being left out and barbaric racism seems pretty harsh with no real details I just don't get it?

Whether u change or name or not it's all cool but u never change the tune...I have a buddy who is Iroquois and he is the best most loyal person i kno..I know it can be tough andecision seem lIke it..but I don't think it's a race thing it's just the way the doctors deal with people on meds..they have to be super strict now and almost seem unfair due to all the abuse that goes on bye Everyone..not just white kids like u said in an earlier post..if the doctor was Chinese would u still think he was racist? Or was it cause the doc was white? I'm just wondering cause of how bent u've been in the past..the problem is we all including myself get held to this rediculous standard now we have to keep because orf the abusers race doesn't matter...over the last year I have been possible tested more times than I was in 5 yrs total before now..it's crazy and I in 8 yrs of being on meds for chronic pain had never had pill counts done and I've had 2 this year..I've had to bend over backwards while doing nothing wrong it's just something has changed where they don't have the same leniency of the past and you have to be on the ball and not screw up to keep ur meds now. And that isn't everywhere but here its that way and I know they r harder to get now as well for people who need them..the system got so relaxed and taken advantage of and now they r coming down on us trying to fix it..but it's just the way it is..do the right things and you'll be OK but it's not a race thing it's an abuse bye addicts thing that created these stiffer policys..not easy..and I know too..but best of luck anyways because again I don't know whole story and the Barbaric Racism thing just stands out there..n it's hard to hear over n over I guess. But I'm not in ur shoes so I will not pass judgement just an opinion..

No thare not all consistently applyed to patch thare can be hot spots 50mcg/h has 5.5mg of fentanyl or = to 550mg morphine or 275mg ocicodone

50 m cg patch has 5.5mg of fentanyl and is equal to 550mg of morphine or 275mg of oxicodone or diamorphine but i would not cut peices off. thare can be hotspots on the patch meaning if you cant handle 550mg of morphine then dont do it

The 50 patches gave me blisters - and the pharm tried diff brands but they all did that - after 4 months of telling a nurse - what it was doing - they finally changed back too pills - and then kept messing up on the scrypt - even one time sent it with-out the mg's on the scrypt... They hated me - not doing the patches - - yup the stomach wanting to throw u was back - but hey atleast - I wasn't paranoid about OD-ING

Face what facts....u didn't give any facts? And how do u know the white boys got pain pills cause where I am from its harder than hell for white boys to get pain pills....I know a guy who's back is destroyed and this white guy is in absolutely pain and can't get Ned's for some reason...must b A Barbaric Racist he is dealing with...I didn't think of that...that's y...I will let him know his doctor is racist cause she is not white so something like race that would never cross my mind now maybe since he can't get relief she must b Barbaric hmm sounds totaly reasonable...or there r many more underlying issues that they couldn't treat u for whatever u needed because u weren't following the standards to B able to correctly use and keep opiate drugs...who knows that's just by the sounds of it their opinion? What is the situation? Did u go in looking for more meds? Other that what u have? Does a doctor have to give or raise it amounts cause I know mine won't if they don't wanna...maybe he is racist too that's it..I have full sleve tattoos and have a big beard right now and look a certain way and I'm pry just being profiled as a junky then...oh no I forgot I'm not because I have followed all the rules and plenty of them to keep what I have I don't know...y u don't give the full details so we can see y they sent u how with the proper usage and rules of narcotics form? IRONIC IS IT NOT??? Pain pills and other drugs was and are still in lot of places. FOR YEARS - WHITE PRIVILEGE DRUG ONLY - and now they're finding out - this white privilege drug - created a lot of white druggies. I've never been left in pain cause for the last 8 yrs of my life I have never done anything to get my mess taken away cause this white boy knows how to control himself, do you? I've passed the 30 u/a's I've taken. And I've never been left in pain..I have chronic pain and get what I get and never had a problem because it's a ligit problem..pain n simple..I follow the rules I am in pain I keep my mess cause if some punks r smoking a joint around me I turn It down if any drug was ever offered to me I would turn it down simple and I don't take all my mess in 15 days then have 2 weeks where I'm screwed and go back and lie and say I lost my script or some stupid shut cause all those that do that get told to kick rocks anyways..so do the right thing what is so hard? I don't care who treats me I've always been treated the same by ever doctor I have ever met..they see my issues and I don't care who sees me white..black..who cares it's a pain issue and if u r in pain and doing the system right it would never b a race issue..unless u want something u shouldn't get then get mad a cry bout the racist white man who won't help me.. y don't u go back to the er for the same exact reason today and ask to see a minority doctor because of ur race issues and see if u get a different outcome..then I would say we'll in ur area u didn't get treated fairly but till then it's all wind in my ears..

Yes, you can put it in your mouth. Don't chew it though. It goes in between teeth and gum.

Harm Reduction does not mean CONDONING the actions/behavior but rather informing people of the pros/cons, risks/benefits and how to safely use.

If this information was widely available, I wonder how many lives would be saved. Cause we all know, people are gonna do what they want to do.

It's more about the fact that certain people with a high tolerance to meds n what not would not be affected of course.. but if someone is asking if it's OK and they rnt used to doing meds and they have no built up tolerance to opiods..who knows what could happen..so y tell anyone it's OK because it may not be..so it's better to error on the side of caution just incase so u say no to it being ok..we wouldn't know for sure..I know what I can handle and I wouldn't need to ask that question but if they r asking they really r not up to knowing what they can handle so I say be careful and y risk if u just wanna try something and u r not used to these type of meds..it's to risky really..if she wants to do it fine but telling her she will have no problems at all and go ahead isn't good advice in my book.. she is looking for a reason to do it or not to. So y send someone down that road with a green light when it's really yellow..risky..to each their own but its a path of...enter at your own risk so to say...

It's not such a good idea to chew on the patch. Personally, I put it between my cheek and gums. That's not really a good idea either but I do it. I say it's not a good idea, because you swallow A LOT of fentanyl. The fentanyl in the patch is not meant to be digested. You won't feel high by swallowing it. You'll be poisoned. It's toxic. I know because whenever I swallow fentanyl, which I really try not to, I vomit fiercely a couple times a day. And it's the color of bile which usually indicates food poisoning. Not good for you.

Some of you people on here are absolutely ridiculous I swear!! If you're being prescribed Fentanyl from an accredited Doctor, then you already opiate tolerate, guaranteed! That said, IF this is indeed your situation, then chewing on a 50mcg patch will NOT kill you, sorry but this is a FACT!! What I believe most are overseeing, or simply are not aware, is Fentanyl is made in ONLY mcg dosages, NOT MG's. Essentially this is 5.5 milligrams not 50!! People who are opiate tolerate will not have any issue whatsoever with that amount. I've been on Fentanyl for years to assist with chronic pain, and have researched this medication enough to damn near be an expert. Hell, I know more about the drug than my and my wife's Doctors combined. Will Fentanyl kill someone? Absolutely! Be smart, know your body and it's limitations, if you have kids, or anyone else who doesn't have an opioid tolerance, be EXTRA safe/smart about where you store them, how you discard the spent patches etc. Lastly, if you're being prescribed the patches, you should also be on "breakthrough" medication as well since the patches take anywhere between 24-36 to enter the bloodstream and begin helping with your pain, hence the reason for the breakthrough medication. IF this is the case for someone, there should be NO need to chew on a patch. Fentanyl is 90% water soluble, therefore when they are chewed you are only truly getting 10% of the medicine, WASTING the other 90%!! Stick with the breakthrough, trust me. You're wasting an entire patch that otherwise if used properly will give you 72+ hrs of relief. And again, be SAFE!! Know your body, and ALWAYS store/dispose properly!!! Remember, nearly ALL "accidents" CAN be avoided when you use your head. And FYI, if you're thinking of trying to debate this topic with me, please don't waste your time and effort, or mine, because I assure you, you will lose... Thanks for reading my comment, it's my first and more than likely my last. Just had to throw in my 2 cents. Cheers!!
