If you are referring to worrying about a drug test, then there is no need, Lyrica is NOT an opiate narcotic and is not tested for on these types of tests.

If you are asking due to side effects or some type of reaction, it can vary depending on how long you have been taking it and how much, but usually the drug will be clear from your body in 48 to 72 hours.

Lyrica, which contains the active ingredient Pregabaline, is an anticonvulstant that has also been proven effective at treating certain types of nerve pain.

Did you just stop taking it or did you gradually reduce the amount over several days? It's very important with this medication that you wean yourself off to help avoid withdrawal symptoms....
From ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000327/
" Do not stop taking pregabalin without talking to your doctor, even if you experience side effects such as unusual changes in behavior or mood. If you suddenly stop taking pregabalin, you may experience withdrawal symptoms, including trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, or seizures. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually over at least one week."
I was on lyrica for fibromyalgia and it did help tremendously, and I was able to get the best sleep I have had in probably 20 years! (was on the highest dose dr would prescribe of flexeril for a few years before i started taking the lyrica...it helped some but would fall asleep, wake up a few hours later and then not sleep good from that point on)
I was only on lyrica for a few months the first time, but it made me feel very displaced emotionally so told dr I wanted off, at which point he instructed how I was to take it over the next several days, stepping down instead of abruptly stopping it. No side effects, just the usual fibro bs and I started feeling human again emotionally wise.
Tried cymbalta, didn't seem to do anything. I weighed my pros and cons and decided feeling displaced was a better option than crappy sleep, restless leg, exhaustion, fatigue and pain so started back on lyrica, taking a lower dose. Been on it longer this time and not experiencing any emotional side effects, but last few weeks, been having swelling issues, mostly in hands, arms, legs and feet. Lowered dose to only 150mg once a day instead of twice a day and swelling is better...(been remodeling a room last 4 1/2 weeks, so body and especially hands have been overworked and abused...I imagine that has played a part in the swelling. Apparently working 24 hrs straight is not a good idea for people with fibromyalgia, retarded move on my part and I knew better...my stupidity has caused 3 flare-ups since taking on this project, and I think that is around the time the swelling started, but I know the lyrica is involved as well.)
Anyway, I would suggest talking with your doctor about your withdraw symptoms, maybe starting the meds again for a little while and then gradually reducing over a week would help avoid withdraw, or over a longer period if you did gradually reduce when you stopped taking them. Idk, not a doctor or medical professional, but it make sense to me. Just an idea of something to throw out at your doctor if you see him/her about your withdraw symptoms. I hope you are doing better!!

Btw, for anyone who is reading this...no one has been very specific about their side effects from the medication, withdraw symptoms (except for the one who posted about not sleeping), or even their condition for which lyrica was prescribed. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for over 8 years now and I am still finding out symptoms caused from it that I didn't realize were symptoms...things that I thought were normal because I've experienced them for so long that I don't remember being any different. It also took me quite a while to figure out that the emotional displacement I was experiencing was a side effect of the lyrica (not a side effect that is listed on all pharmaceutical informational websites) so, I find it helpful when reading forums if people are more specific..,just saying. ;-) And with that said, can anyone tell me if they have had any adema problems from the lyrica and what, if anything, you have found that helps relieve it?

I was given Lyrica for lower back pain, took it for 3 months and gained 30lbs. This has screwed up my whole body, during that time , I experienced severe arm pain along with numbness in my right hand, once I went off of it, it took 2 weeks before I realized that Lyrica had caused that prob. I consider this Medicine poison!!
It's bHeen almost 3 weeks , and I am still dealing with the swelling, pain and stiffness!
It is Horrible, would NEVER recommend it to Anyone, it's just not worth it!!

okay first of all what you are saying is completely wrong. Lyrica does NOT stay in your body for 72 hours, its stays for much longer. My advice for u is get as far away as possible from dis medication. its very addictive and have really annoying side affects. for example, wen u get off it u cant sleep, ur always depressed and at some point u might get suicidal. ive been off it for more than 2 months now and i still cant sleep. I writing you this msg now while being awake for more than 34 hours. if i do get sleep, its usually for 3 hours max. stay away..

I have been taking 150mg of Lyrica at dinner time for three years now. I decided to go off of the drug because of side effects. I stopped taking Lyrica 5 days ago and am still experiencing anxiety. How long should I expect this anxiety to last for?

Yes i ha e edema everywhere.. i can feel my face swelling mainly under my eyes and my lips. I am also extremely irritable, angry, and mouthy. Zero sex drive. Loss of appetite BUT gaining weight. Very spaced out cant consentrate. Tired all the time. Tremors in my hands. I stopped taking mine (50mg a day) 3 days ago and i am anxious to get
my life back. Forgot to mention I have juvenile rhumatoid arthritis and fibromialgia. I take a whole host of meds but when i started lyrica all of the above began... the end for me was a few days ago when my 9 yr old son carefully said to me "mom have you noticed how lately youve been very angry" .my husband had been complaining for wks tht I had an attitude everytime he ssaid anything and tht i was exremely impatient.. which of course infuriated me. So when my son said something a light came on and as I think back over the 2 mo Ive been on it I can clearly see just how for lack of a more fitting word..how psychotic Id become. So good riddence lyrica... now hurry and GET OUT OF MY SYSTEM!

I totally agree. You can read posts on my Lyrica recovery process here:
neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php?searchid=1868629&photoplog_searchinfo=1

I am 76 days off Lyrica today, still do not sleep, but depression has lifted somewhat the past week and I can have conversations again.

Thanks for your post.

I've been on lyrica since 2007 and i'm on 75 MG right now. I take 1 pill at 10 PM every night. I just increased from 50 to 75 2 months ago because it seemed like it was the best thing to do because I had 1 really bad one at that time. since I've been on 75, I had one last month *a big one* it took a few days to regain strength because after it occurs I have a huge headache and during the big seizure I hear like loud drums in my ears, it's really really bad. This last week, I can feel like one is going to come on in my head but then has just went away, well just 2 days ago, the *little small ones* which feel like there going to lead into big ones came on and I had 11 of them in 1 single day and they only last for about a minute, I got a sort of a strain *headache* after the 10th one that following night, but other then that i've been okay except for my left hand is tingling right now. one of the reasons why I take Lyrica is because I experienced bad nerve pain for 2 1/2 weeks straight 4 1/2 years ago 24/7, I could not sleep, my left arm and left ribcage felt like it was being attacked by sharp knives. that's when the doctor prescribed lyrica for fibromyalga and seizures. this all connects to an accident I had when I was 2 years of age which I experienced brain damage when I pulled a grandfather clock on top of my head because it was top heavy.

Went off lyrica ten days ago. Had vision problems, wt. Gain, confusion.memory loss, didn't eat for 3 days and still gained weight. Fell in my room as I was so clumpsy. Went off it cold turkey and still have fits of anger and hand tremors. This is a bad, bad medication!

It took me from February to September to wean myself off of lyrica! I couldn't believe how painful it was. Chills, sweating, aching, poor sleep, irritibility, severe depression, and though I took the last 25 mg 10 days ago, I still have difficulty. 3 days I took a bit of one, just to give me a temporary reprieve. Hardest drug to quit than I ever imagined or was ever told!

Lyrica is absolutely the worst prescribed medicine out there. Please go on the Internet and type in lyrica, worst side effects and deaths. I was prescribed the medicine 5 years ago after a truck ran over me when I was walking. I had nerve damage. I also have fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatique Syndrome. I was put in 150 mg 2 times a day. The first week I was on it, my work sent me home because they thought I was high. My dr sent me back 3 hrs later to tell them that I was normal. I have never done drugs in my life and never liked the feeling of being high. When you are on this medicine your brain gets foggy, and you don't remember things and you start to loose your memory. I had so many side effects that my dr thought it was all in my head so u still took it because as we were always thought , "the dr knows everything so trust them" . I stayed on it for about a year and was very hesitant but had to take it so I could work. These are the flowing symtoms that I had
1. Gained weight
2. Loss of memory
3. Disconnected from the world.
4. Not interested in anything emotionally
5. I couldn't concentrate
6. I couldn' t do simple things like pay my bills or clean the house.
7. Tired all the time

These were my major symptoms. The worst thing about this drug is you don't realize all the symtoms because your brain eventually stops worki g as well as it use to. I decided to go off it and the withdrawals were horrible so I went back on them.
I have been on the medicine for 5 years now and after reading on the Internet about all the lawsuits and all the people being sick and dying, I decided to wean off of it. I have been taking 75 mg once a day for the last couple months and then I went down to 50.
My dr gives me a Vicodin instead which I think everyone shod take before taking Lyrica. Pain medicines are much better for you then Lyrica.
I am on 75 mg every other day and now I am at 35 mg once a day. The withdrawals are bad but they will be worth it. The anxiety and swearing erc and depression is hard. I have been taking half a Xanax and the pain medicine to help relieve the pain. If you can afford it take time off of work and spend all your time on making yourself healthy again. My dog and eating healthy has helped. I am now going two days with only 35 mg Nd I feel like The Last five years of my life were a complete fog. I don't remember everything and I have been looking at all these forums and all the articles about how bad lyrica is and how the company making it had to pay the FDA over 35 million in damages. Please research and keep going on forums. I do get headaches and pains, but actually getting your brain to function again is the most important thing. I will write more tomorrow if you want. I would love to help. Ease read the Internet on all the side effects of lyrica. Try to read places that is not ran by the company itself.
Lyrica is ranked 3rd on the highest amount of money ever made on medicine sales and the numbers are goin up. There are soapy lawsuits and you don't want to lose your life or your family or friends.
The worst side effect of lyrica is feeling like you are in complete isolation and you feel like you are slowly dying. As I am typing this a Lyrica commercial just came on. They did a study and out of 53,400 people 1,100 people died the first time they took this medicine. This medicine is on the market because of profits and there is a major lawsuit against the company because it is ruining people's lives. Please do well and God Bless You!

i was put on lyrica last year as a replacement medication fot my epilepsy. it hasnt stopped the seizures it made me irritable all the time, terrible headaches, my memory was worsened and just couldnt think straight or concentrate properly, i was falling down all the time out in public and on my stairs really felt like i was losing the plot, ive put 4 stone in weight on, restless at night, and the list goes on this medication is just pure evil. i decided 10 days ago to start weaning myself off this crap, i was on 250mg a day so just dropped 50mg every 2 days not taken any for 2 days now my skin feels like its burning off my body and crawling with ants and have terrible hot sweats and slight runs but otherwise i at least feel human again can think straight and my future feels alot brighter. i would never ever recommend anyone take this poison
