Heroin Meth Oxy Addict

Updated

I would just like to add my tale about suboxone changing my life. I started taking drugs at the age of 17. I am now 35 years old. The first day I tried drugs, my friend (who passed away 6 years ago) had me smoke a few bowls of weed. This lead down a road to using marijuana and other psychedilic drugs through high school and most of my early 20's. This was enough then I turned to cocaine. This was my drug of choice for many years. I couldn't stand the cravings after the cocaine was finished, I was then introduced to heroin to get rid of the cocaine cravings. I loved heroin, I then got sick my first time after doing it for 3 days in a row. Worst feeling in the world. Managed to get off heroin temporarily - was introduced to another wonderful drug called crystal meth. I thought what a god-sent. I can get high AND be productive. This was only temporary. After awhile you become a slug and only want more meth. I then went back to using heroin - but still using meth at the sametime. After 4 -5 years of this, I was then introduced to oxy contin. Again, I thought, what a god sent. This totally kills my heroin withdrawls and gives me tons of energy to do things. This again was temporary as it turned me into an unbelievable prick after years of doing this. Until it finally happened, I had gotten up to a 160 - 200mg dosage per day. My mother was going through her second bout with cancer, and my dad had to have a triple by-pass. I went into a complete depression and starting abusing the oxy more than ever. I overdosed Jan. 24, 2009. I had taken 10 - 40mg oxy's within a 12 hour span. I didn't have dreams, I didn't see any white light - just darkness. I awoke in the critical care ward in my local hosiptal. I took me a little while to realize what had happened. I spent 4 days in the hospital and finally decided this was enough. I went to see my doctor and told him everything. He recieved the medical report from the hospital and could not believe I was still alive. His own word were - The amount of abuse you body took was astounding I have now been on suboxone for 6 months. I have also been alchol and drug free for that time. Due to my exceptional computer skills I was able to maintain working, every dime went towards drugs. So please, take it from a 35 year old who still lives in his parents basement, and has spent 10's of thousands of dollars on getting high - putting my parents through hell, do yourself a favor, get out now while you can.

Peace,
A.

Wow, thanks for sharing your story and for building up the courage to get help and change your situation.

Suboxone has proven to be a wonderful addiction assist for many.

It contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine.

Some of the most common side effects of using it can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

For anyone interested you can read more about this drug here:

Is there any other information I can help anyone with?

My son who is 28 yrs old has been on suboxin for almost a year now. He was a herion addict for over 12 years. It has been a miracle drug but his personality has changed. He is actually driving me crazy. I don't know him anymore. He is agitated all the time. Complains about everybody else. Cant talk to him I cant take it any more. Has anyone heard of a persons mental state changing. It is almost like he is bi-polar.

Queen Ann, your son like me, is probably realizing that he has to start life at 28 years old. He most likely has reconnected with friends he hasn't seen in years and they all have moved forward in life. Some have families, some have bought homes, some may have successful careers. Probably the best thing for him would be to get back into school. You didn't give to detailed a description to what is going on, but I'm making an assumption it has something to do with what I wrote above. If it is, just explain to him its not to late in life to make changes, its never to late. My friend who is a professor has a student in his 50's going back to school for his 3rd career change.

Hi my boyfriend is a heroin addict ( inhailing) do you think that people should just back off and let an addict hit rock bottom and become ready to stop themselves or should family and friends keep pushing them to stop?, basically am I wasting my time trying to save him?
