After having spinal surgery to repair several broken vertebrae and L5- L1 that I shattered during a fall from a 6foot ladder I have been in need of anti-inflammatory drugs as well as narcotic pain relievers. Please help me find a physician that will prescribe narcotic pain relievers. I will

Hello, Linsakay! How are you?

Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require something such as a narcotic for the long-term ongoing relief of chronic pain, you'll need to see a specialist. A regular GP will not be able to prescribe it.

Do you have a GP that you've been seeing regularly? If so, having them refer you to someone for pain treatment would most likely be the easiest way to find the help you need.

Doctors who will prescribe pain medication in Hot Springs, Arkansas Suffering due to fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, bone spurs, scoliosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, no cartilage in right knee, frequent migraines. Had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma stage III in 2000, went into remission in 2001 after chemo and retuxan monoclonal antibody therapy but have had extreme fatigue and all over body pain since. My doctor of over 10 years' business manager dropped me from the practice stating they didn't have time for me. They were supposd to send me a letter to that effect and do refills, but not narcotics, for 30 data. They've done neither. I can't find a lawyer to do anything and I'm having trouble even finding a doctor that is taking new patients and I'm afraid to bring up the pain med issue for fear of being labeled a drug seeker. My last doctor , however, was prescribing hydrocodone 10-325 and Soma 360 4 times a day for the last 4 years. They told me to go to convenient care or the ER and we all know you can't get regular scripts like that. Please help.

You may want to get a copy of your medical rercords and read them to see exactly what they put in your file about why you were dismissed. Any dr will want to get these records. It sounds very strange to me.

A dr doesn't have to be a Pain Management dr to write pain meds for chronic pain patients. It may be very hard to find a dr who isn't a Pain dr that will do it and most of the PCP's will usually only do it for long term patients. And with hydrocodone combinations meds going to a Schdeule II later on this year, some PCP's who have prescribed this particular med are stopping. They can still prescribe it, but they are choosing not to.
