no!!! UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET YOUR BABY HIGH! YOUR DOCTOR SHOULD KNOW THIS. You need to communicate with him/her better, unless the pills not from there.....shame on you then.....

I just had a baby 5 weeks ago and the doctor prescribed hydrocodone for me. I found it had no affect on the baby at all. Ask your doctor if you are uncomfortable taking this med while breastfeeding. HTH

Not unless you want an addicted baby - and it is an addictive drug - and I mean ths in the kindest way possible. I am on it and have been for years but if I go off, I suffer withdrawal and did so after the first few months of taking it - imagine weighting 7 lbs and coming off it?

I am a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and my specialty is breastfeeding and medications.
Hydrocodone IS American of Pediatric approved IF you have a legitimate prescription, your doctor knows you are breastfeeding and you have a good reason to take the drug.
This drug is an opiate. Opiates have a relatively large molecular weight, and very little gets into your milk. Timing doesn't matter if you take on a regular basis, but if you occasionally take this med, you may want to wait until after a feeding.
If you see fatigue, irritability, difficulty breathing, etc in the baby, you may want to reduce your dose.
Hydrocodone is one of the safer medications to take while breastfeeding for pain. It is certainly better than ergot, or many other dangerous drugs.
In normal situations (meaning you take for PAIN not to get intoxicated) the baby should experience NO side effects. If your infant experiences side effects you can trace to the Hydrocodone, then talk to your doctor about a different drug for your pain.

Not true. You can take Hydroco/APAP while breastfeeding. After a C-Section, mothers are given Hyroco/APAP for up to 10 days or more, depending on their level of pain.

Diclofenac Sodium DR (Brand Name-Voltaren) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Diclofenac Sodium DR is released overtime instead of all at once. Do as your dr has instructed you to do and Do Not Breastfeed while taking Diclofenac Sodium DR, Hydrocodone or any other drugs when instructed not to.
