Diclofenac Overview

Diclofenac (INN; see trade names below) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) taken or applied to reduce inflammation and as an analgesic reducing pain in certain conditions. It is supplied as or contained in medications under a variety of trade names. The name "diclofenac" derives from its chemical name: 2-(2,6-dichloranilino) phenylacetic acid. Diclofenac was originally developed by Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis) in 1973.[1] It was first introduced in the UK in 1979.[2][3] In the Unit...

Rumoquin Canada

Is it possible to import Rumoquin from outside the United States? I think it's over the counter, just not out here. Worked really great for me when I needed it during a trip. I just wonder if customs allows you to bring back medication for personal use? ## Hello, Mere! How are you? If you are taking something, or it is prescribed for you, while visiting another country, you can bring back up to a 3 month supply with you. However, since the FDA doesn't like these combinations, so it's not approved here, you wouldn't be able to just import it or anything. It is listed as containing the NSAID Diclofenac; the steroid Dexamethasone and the muscle relaxant Methocarbamol. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, nervousness, insomnia, acne...

Where is the expiration date on the box for the tribedoce injection... ## Hello, Cat! How are you? Since Tribedoce is not approved in the U.S., it may not be required to have an expiration date. The FDA lists the drug ingredient in it as being Diclofenac, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, administration site reaction and redness. Please note, this information only applies to the standard Tribedoce, which also includes some vitamins. There are other formulations that contain other ingredients. Is there anything else I can help with?

Expired Diclofenac

I have diclofenac that was prescribed late 2006 but has no expiry date, is it still safe to use? ## Hello, Bob! How are you? I'm not sure how your country handles drug laws and expiration dates, so I can only provide you with information that I am familiar with from the U.S. FDA. From their efficacy studies, when left in the original factory sealed containers, it was found to retain full efficacy for 3 years, but once that container was opened and it was dispensed in a pharmacy/chemist's container that exposes it to the elements that cause degradation, that efficacy could only be guaranteed for one year. Learn more Diclofenac details here. it was not, however, found to become dangerous after the expiration date, but after so many years, it is most likely worthless and you should...

diclofenac and sulfa allergy
2 Replies RSS
Is there sulfa in diclofenac and will it have an effect on my sulfa allergies? ## I also have a sulfa allergy and have taken diclofenac with no problem. ## @Nancy, Just to confirm, Diclofenac Sodium is not a sulfa-based drug; but rather a 'sodium salt'. So my understanding is in line with Karen's (post #1) in that you shouldn't experience any problems relating to a sulfa allergy. As to the inactive ingredients, one would have to know the imprint on the pill to determine if other binders/fillers could potentially be a culprit as well. However, if you do have a known allergy, I would just be sure to communicate this to the doctor and/or pharmacist whenever you go to get a new prescription... that way you can be certain that whatever it is you're taking is safe. Hope th...
