Hey Skublu. Just want you to know that I'm pulling for you on my end as well girl. I was blessed to have ppl in treatment tell me DO NOT LEAVE HERE ON SUBOXONE! I was warned about how the withdrawals can be worse than the Oxy and methadone. I'm thankful to be on something that will get me off safely.

I'm sorry for your loss Ashley and I understand your trepidation regarding withdrawals. Just know that if you wean yourself off of this drug SLOWLY you can do this with little discomfort. The fact is that us addicts are big babies when it comes to pain and discomfort. I just decided that if I experienced minor withdrawals then that was my penance for being so stupid and getting myself in this mess in the first place. Please see my posts on this page. I discuss how I weaned myself off and my withdrawal symptoms were quite minor. And please remember that you truly are a lot stronger than you think. Good luck and keep me posted :-)

I know exactly how you feel Skublu. I, too, was horribly uninformed about this nasty drug when I started taking it. If you are down to 4mgs then you are doing better than you think. You mentioned that you feel bad when you try to take less. You may be trying to decrease your dosage by too much. I decreased my dosage by quarters of 1mg. Try taking 3 3/4mgs for 4 to 7 days then decrease to 3 1/2mgs for another 4 to 7 days. You will learn how your body handles the decrease. I think you will be fine but everyone is different so if you experience BAD withdrawals then simply cut your dosage by 1/8mgs. Just know that doctors are not really our friends when it comes to this evil drug. We have to take matters into our own hands. You can do this and if you have the right mindset AND discipline I believe you can rid your body of this drug by Christmas! You're in my thoughts and prayers :-)

Hello Hope! I truly appreciate your kind words of strongly needed advice. I just turned 34 on November 13th and I have been addicted to pain meds for 10 years. My mom died from an accidental overdose of morphine 8yrs ago. I watched her try to fight this evil disease called addiction and she warned and begged me on many occasions to never take pain meds. All my meds were prescribed by a doctor for a medical reason which is really irrelevant at this point. It's been a long time coming and I have a strong mindset that I haven't ever had to get off and stay off of this poison. You have to truly be ready to do the work to beat this. I know it will be a lifelong battle but I can and WILL succeed. I am afraid of how bad I'll feel when I start to taper off but it can't be near as bad as cold turkey. Congratulations to you Hope on how far you have come!! Thanks so very much.

Hi Hope, yes I was referring to you..I thank you for reaching out.. I'm back on the suboxone 8mg strips. I'm taking 4 mgs a day. I've been on buprenorphine since 2008. My doctor sent me out of rehab on Suboxone 16mgs a day. I had no idea I was leaving with just as big of a problem as I walked in there with., as far as having to rely on taking something everyday. I wasn't told that I was going to have to wean off . I wasn't given any instructions when it came to stopping them. When I went to my doctor 1 month after I got out of rehab he just kept prescribing them. I'm not complaining bc my life was unmanageable before I went into rehab. I had a serious opiate problem. I just wish I would have been told more about what I was taking. 16mgs a day was a very hefty dose. Being down to 4 doesn't feel any different. I still feel like I have a long road in front of me. When I take less I feel terrible and when I have to go out and do something for the whole day I find myself wanting to take 6mgs to make the day easier. I'm sure that's all in my head. I'm really having a hard time. My ins doesn't pay for any of them anymore., it's over $ 200.00 a month. I'm going back Monday and going to ask for the Subutex. I've heard they are just like the suboxone minus the naloxone and a lot cheaper. I'm going to start cutting the strips into 3 equal pieces and give that a try. It feels like I'm never going to get there. I'm so happy to hear you're 3 weeks clean of buprenorphine. CONGRATULATIONS! <3 It gives me hope. Thanks so much, Hope :)

Skublu :)

Hi Ashley. Congratulations on your progress so far. Weaning yourself off Zub will be relatively the same. It is an extremely powerful drug so practicing self discipline while decreasing your dosage will be extremely important. Just remember that getting off of Zub needs to be your primary goal in life. Please do not stay on it for long. Start decreasing your dosage and continue with that process very slowly. If you adhere to that mindset you will experience very minor withdrawals. You can do this...good luck!

Thank you for replying. I'm very proud of myself for being completely off of Xanax and Methadone. I do wonder what it will be like getting off of the Zubsolv?

Hi Skublu! I was able to wean myself off of the Zub early! However, I will say that my last script was 2/.04 Suboxone film. It was very easy to cut the films in pieces. I've been Sub/Zub free for 3 weeks and while I had minor withdrawals for the first 4-5 days (RLS, minor insomnia, weakness, etc.), they were very manageable. My only lasting symptom is lethargy, in my legs mostly. I just don't have a lot of giddy-up in my step. But I'm not complaining. I did a lot of damage to my body over the last 5 years (4+ years taking 6 to 8 fiorinal with codeine capsules then Sub/Zub since Febrary of this year). I thank God I'm finally done with ALL that sh**!!!!! Suboxone/Zubsolv are scary powerful drugs so I beg you to start weaning yourself now. Do it SLOWLY and I promise you will be able to handle the minor withdrawal symptoms. The key word is SLOW. You got this!!!

Hi Texan patriot! I would highly suggest you start tapering now because Zubsolv/Suboxone are extremely powerful drugs. Think about it...I took 6 to 8 fiorinal with codeine capsules every day for a little over 4 years yet one tiny Zubsolv pill staved off the withdrawals. THAT is scary powerful. While it's a lot easier to cut Suboxone film, just start breaking the pills in pieces and SLOWLY start taking smaller and smaller amounts until it's almost microscopic. I successfully weaned myself off and I've been Zub free for 3 weeks. My withdrawals were minor and very manageable. You can do this!!! Good luck sweetie :-)

I take that Zubsolv as well and I am also worried about when it comes time to tapering off and getting off of them because I do not want to be on them for more than just a couple months. I have only been on them for about two weeks now and I do see a big difference although I've had side effects including headaches and severe leg and arm pain but I guess we'll just see. I just don't want to replace one narcotic with another narcotic that defeats the purpose so hopefully I'll just be on them for two months and be done with it.

Hi Joey. Well, I was able to wean myself off completely! I feel incredibly fortunate that the only symptoms I had were a little lethargy and RLS in my legs for two days. It has been a week and while I still feel a bit 'lazy' I am doing great. I'm still a little leary because of all the horror stories I've read on this site. If it has been a week, will I unexpectedly experience more symptoms in the coming weeks or months ahead?

Skublu...I don't know if you were referring to me (Hope) in your post but just in case, I'm doing well. I found no difference between the Suboxone and the Zubsolv so I'm sorry your not having luck with it. My plan is still on track...to wean myself off of the Zub by the end of November. I know I'll have to 'pay the piper' once I quit completely; it will be a rough month after that but the way I look at it, it'll be my penance for getting myself in this situation. I just pray it doesn't ruin my Christmas. Good luck to you!!!

Hi , hopeful :) I was wondering how you're doing on the zubsolv? This is my 3rd week and I'm still struggling with the change. I went to the doc yesterday and got a script for suboxone. I haven't filled it yet, but I'm seriously considering it. I have 8 5.7 zubs left , so I'm going to give it at least a few more days.

I agree, the zubsolv is way different for me too. I was down to 2-4mgs of suboxone from 16mgs when put on them in 2008. My ins stopped covering the subs. 3 weeks ago my doc wrote me zubsolv and said to take 1/2 tab bc 1/2 is equivalent to 4mg suboxone. I'm taking 3x that much and still going through mild withdraw. Zubsolv suck and as much as I'm taking it will cost more than subs. I'm going back on subs today!

Not sure I claimed zubsolv was "stronger" than Subutex. You indicate Subutex is "cleaner" because it does not have naloxone in it. I am aware that Subutex doesn't contain naloxone but the "cleaner" part I disagree with. Just sounds like you aren't looking at the medication in the healthiest way but I sure as hell am not judging because who I am to judge? Just simply making an observation and I don't know you so my observation is based off of your words only. At any rate, in terms of bioavailability, 5.7 mg of buprenorphine from zubsolv is roughly equivalent to 8 mg of buprenorphine from suboxone.

Here is one article of hundreds to support the argument:

naabt.org/faq_answers.cfm?ID=79#

I get your definition of "cleaner" but clean to me is being off of opiates (partial opiate agonists and full opiate agonists). I've been on both and haven't used either in awhile. I plan to keep it that way.

Bro 8 mg of subutex is stronger then 5.7 solv obviously and subutex is cleaner without naloxone how do u think 5.7 mg of Bupe is stronger then 8 mgs lol sub drs arnt always honest
