To answer your first question, the Hydrocodone + Ibuprofen is a semi-synthetic opioid and NSAID combination, primarily used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Regarding the expiration date, if it's been stored properly, then it's probably going to be good for the next few years or more. According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date.

Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen, a generic for Vicoprofen, is a narcotic analgesic.

And once it's past the expiration date, it does begin to lose effectiveness, so it may not work as well as it did when it was a new prescription. In such cases, the best thing to do is to dispose of the old medication and look into getting a new prescription.
