Use beyond expiration date ## There's actually a lot of conflicting information around the topic of expired medication, but according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. I don't know whether or not the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the study... (I have not seen the list of drugs used in this study). But I'd imagine tha...

Can this be taken for a "boil" type bump ? And if so when I was younger and was taking tetracycline acne medicine and it caused me to have a rare side effect where it caused excess spinal fluid, will the doxycycl do the same thing? ## HI Rachael, Doxycycline is used to treat different types of bacterial infections including, If the boil is infected it could possibly work. A Butapapcaf Codeinecap If The Expiration Date
is it safe to take a but/apap/caf codeinecap if the expiration date is 01-18-2012 ## Hi mary, My answer to your question would be yes, it is safe to take this specific medication past it's due date. According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. At worst, it may have lost a bit of potency, but the only way to find out precisely would be to have it lab tested. Source: health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update1103a.shtml I hope this info helps to shed some light on the topic of expired medication :)

I took this pill and the expiration date is 09/23/11 is anything going to happen to me. ## Hi Crystal, According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. Source: health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update1103a.shtml Penicillin does not go bad/get dangerous with age, per se, however, it can lose efficacy and may not work as well as it did, when it was new. This means that taking a standard dose may not effectively wipe out an infection and could actually cause the development of drug resistant bacteria. Learn More: Penicillin Details If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back so I can further assist you.
