Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

I just took the first suprep and like some others, it was very difficult to get down. QUESTION: Is the second round needed if everything is 'clear'? I've been on an almost clear liquid diet for the past 5 days, so there's just not that much to clean?

3 hours and counting until my first encounter with Suprep. I have had 2 colonoscopys in the last 10 years using other agents like Go Lightly to get the job done. My doctor told me this will taste like cough syrup. My first procedure I was told the prep would taste like a Margarita if I added Limeade so I am just a tad skeptical.I really do appreciate the posts especially those with helpful hints on what worked for them. I am not planning on having any results out of the ordinary and hopefully will be able to post my opinions of the "event" afterwards.

Ok...Just did the prep for the evening. I took the advice of one of the posters and did Ambesol before drinking, Not sure what it would have been without but was I barely tasted anything except liquid going down my throat. The prep went down in 2 big swigs...maybe a little more than a minute I aso used tap water that was running for about 40 seconds before filling the cup I bought lemons, straws and everything else imaginable but only used the Ambesol. I am on my second bottle of water and am truly amazed that is has gone so smoothly so.I'll keep you posted.

My third and last post of the day. From beginning to end, excuse the pun, it was much easier than I expected. I don't doubt there will be many that may have issues with this prep but for me it was very easiest one to date. If you are not use to drinking that much water I would suggest start drinking a few pints of water quickly a few days before. It will be less of a shock to you when you have to do it for real
. Good luck to everyone going through this. Hope it helped.

2nd prep was not as easy in the morning. It took three big swigs to get down. First two swigs where fine and third was mind over matter. I apologize for any grammatical errors made in relating my experience. You might understand I may not have had time to check for mistakes lest a bigger one happen. To sum up. Anbesol beforehand. A few days of drinking lots of water got my mind prepared. Tap water running for 40 secs before. I did this and came out well from the experience. I wish whatever you choose that your experience goes smoothly.

waiting for the Suprep to work...took my first dose about 45 minutes ago. Alternated each swig with sucking on a lime slice. The lime helps counteract the sweetness of the Suprep. Wasn't too bad, but I am only 45 mins in.

Followed suit from Steve - Anbesol does dull the taste - not completely or for very long So drink fast! I'm on the younger side/25, my first with any of this regular check up business. Ate normally through the week. The day of prep: I had plain yogurt/honey for breakfast and broth for lunch and nothing after that. First dose at 5 PM, Q-tipped tongue with anbesol, mixed solution with sprite, downed it. Took 15-20 to kick in, i was at the toilet until 7:30/8 PM. Second dose 5:45 AM, the last third of the solution took me 2 tries. Same anbesol and sprite (a little ginger ale for the last third). Toilet until 7:00, it was finally clear!! It got really yellow and then just clear. Was really afraid I wasn't going to be clear for my appointment at 11. No side effects. Just drinking the thing made me want to vom a little bit.Tolerable. Fingers crossed that the colonoscopy goes well. Can't wait to eat! Good luck to everyone on this journey! Wishing you all the best of health.

The taste is awful! I did use a straw and that really didn't help much? I took my first dose at 4:15 and was in the bathroom within 20 minutes....by 5:30 it was clear. This may be due to the fact that I have not had any meat, fish or chicken all week, not sure. Doing the second dose at 9:30 and hoping all is truly clear! Not looking forward to the taste (wish I wld have known about the ambesol) procedure is tomorrow, need to check in at 7:00am and am scheduled at 8:30. Good luck to everyone!

I just completed my first ever colonoscopy this week and took the Suprep as my colon preparation solution. Like so many other here have stated, the solution was quite sweet but I found that sucking on a lemon wedge after each series of gulps helped greatly. After each dose of Suprep and the additional water required, I followed with either warm tea or warm broth and experienced no chills. The solution worked quickly and I was in the bathroom within 1 hour of completion. No pain or cramping, just bowels emptying. After about 2 hours there was nothing more and I was able to sleep normally without any trips to the bathroom. I took my 2nd dose in the morning and again sucked on lemon wedges in between gulps and followed with warm broth once I had completed the prep and additional water as directed. The solution went to work within about 15 minutes and I think I was on the toilet maybe 3 times, then I was done. Went to my appointment and the procedure went smoothly, very clean colon. All in all, the entire experience was not nearly as bad as I had feared, and now know that I have little to fear next time I need a colonoscopy.

I had my first colonoscopy and endoscope today. procedure was scheduled for 11:00am but the DR was running about 1 hour behind. Finally went in at 12:noon and walk out of center at 1:30pm.
On Wednesday I stopped solid foods around 8:00pm. On Thursday I ate strained cambells chicken soup for breakfast and supper. lunch was miso soup (broth only) from a sushi restaurant. Started Suprep at 6pm and found that just drink the stuff because the more you try to mask the flavor the longer you will spend drinking. The first dose I drink in 2 gulps. then over the next 2 hours 4 bottles of water an 1 glass of apple juice. It worked but nowhere near the horror stories I have read on here. In fact, I have had stomach viruses that felt worse. Approached the second dose the next morning the same way. Since this was my first and not knowing what to expect, I can say now that not eating solid foods for about 40 - 44 hours was the worse part of the whole experience.

I am having my first colonoscopy today. I drank two bottles of Suprep; and I will never drink Suprep again. It was awful. I got the first bottle down at 5 PM as instructed then I had to wake up at 1 AM for the scone bottle. The first bottle was bad, just awful tasting but I managed to get it down with gulps of straight cold water. The second bottle was worse somehow; I gagged three times. The rest of the prep has been easy enough, including the movements after the Suprep. I wish I was told some of the hints of mixing it with gatorade or something else. At this point, I never plan on having another colonoscopy due to the Suprep.

I was worried because of all the reviews that it was going to be awful but I am here to say it isn't a horrible for experience for everyone.

First off I agree that since I eat healthy normally (lots of veggies and protein not too much crap or carbs) this may have helped me.

I mixed it as instructed and was able to chug the beverage down in two big gulps. It tasted like a bad cough syrup but I have done gross beverages to check for gestational diabetes and it wasn't so bad I couldn't get it down. Tasted like a cough syrup with a salty after taste. I did not vomit or have any issue keeping it down. I drank the two glasses of water right after within a half an hour.

It took about an hour to take effect and it was not crazy explosive like others said. I just had watery diaherra and it did it's job. I took it at 5 pm and was in bed by 10:30 pm.

I repeated it is the morning and it was the same.

It cleaned me out but it was not awful. I wouldn't suggest making plans and stay near a bathroom but besides that it wasn't as bad as other reviewers had stated

I took the first dose of Suprep at 9:30PM and the taste was nothing like i was told to expect. It tasted like weak grape cough syrup. I filled the cup with water and drank that at 9:45PM when I first went to the bathroom. Honestly it's not as bad as people have said, I was in the bathroom until 11:50PM and asleep by 12:45AM. None of the explosive parts people spoke of, but I did experience minor stomach discomfort for 5 minutes after I drank dose one. The morning dose has been pretty similar sans the stomach discomfort. All in all not even close to a *bad* experience, this is not to say it was fun by any stretch.

Apparently you can tolerate drinking just about anything because the taste was so awful i cringe just thinking about it.

Rub Ambesol around your mouth, drink suprep solution at tap water temperature. You will be fine. Ambesol deadens the taste and the rest will be easier. The harder part was drinking all the water after. Good luck

Worst tasting prep I've ever used. I will never ever use it again. It was foul!
