Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

I have IBS and was instructed by my gastroenterologist to do the suprep "clean out" ... I am not having a colonoscopy but she just wanted me to do the suprep clean out so I could start my meds on a clean colon.

I have never taken any form of laxatives or ever had a "clean out" but I frequently have IBS flare ups with constipation and then followed by extreme pain and diarrhea. So I was quite frightened to do this clean out.

I chilled the mix before taking it, it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. I did have to have a chaser though because of the after taste. Drinking the 2 bottles of water afterwards was the hardest part, because I felt so full I didn't want anymore water but I knew I had to drink it so that I wouldn't be dehydrated. After 45 minutes of nothing happening my stomach started to rumble and I could hear gurgling sounds. I began to have some stomach pain so about an hour after drinking the mix I decided to go sit on the toilet. WOW! After a few hard stools it literally started flowing out of me like a waterfall. It's hard to imagine the amount of stool that came out of my body... I wiped and stood up a few times thinking it was over only to RUN back to the toilet. After about 45 minutes of this I layed down and was able to sleep throughout the night. When I woke up this morning I had the urge to have diarrhea. And I did. Painless. All day long I have been starving feeling extremely empty inside but I am scared to eat anything solid for fear of having stomach pain. I have had some cream of wheat, and some grapes. And it seems like immediately I'm rushing to the toilet.

I don't know when the diarrhea is going to stop. I'm not having very much stomach pain.. Just hunger and diarrhea. I am thinking of trying to have some carrots but I'm not sure of how my stomach will react after having took this suprep last night. I would think by now it would have left my body and I wouldn't still be having diarrhea.

Anyone else having this problem almost 24 hours after doing the suprep? I did not take the second dose of the suprep.. Only the one dose last night about 7:30

My previous experience with Nulytely was horrible. I started drinking that stuff at 12pm. I didn't have to use the bathroom until 5pm. After that I was in the bathroom all night and was still going at 9am. I almost had an accident in the elevator. So when I was given Suprep I was very worried that I would have the same reaction.I drank my first round at 12N the day before my procedure. It didnt take too long before it started to work. I waited four hours and started my second round of Suprep. I was still going to the bathroom every 10-15mins at 4am. I am on the 3yr plan so I am not sure what they will give me next

I urge you to stick to clear liquid diet the day before and my chiropractor suggested to drink some coconut water too since it is high in electrolyites, and I think that really helped me alot, thanks doc! He also suggested to change my diet and cut out the fast food and start some excercises, stop smoking, etc, so maybe I will not need to have this procedure done again so soon in the future. I wish I would have listened sooner....

I agree it should be dose dependent. I am a smaller person (155lbs) and after the first dose my poop came flying out in a liquid manner in fact it even backsplashed onto the walls! Yuk. I did not take the 2nd bottle and I was fine the next day. Just make sure you have a liquid diet all day before the procedure and I started my drink around 8pm the night before, and drank some of the 2nd bottle but I dont think I needed to . good luck 249 peruvian

I will have my fourth colonoscopy Monday. I have done the Fleet and twice the Miralax/Dulcolax (which I did not mind at all). Expecting to do that one again and not dreading the prep, I called for my fourth and was told the gastroenterologist had switched to a split prep. They wanted me to take the gallon stuff, but I begged for the Suprep, as my brother had taken. I do it tomorrow and Monday morning. What I have not read that helped me a lot in the previous ones, was to have banana popsicles between gulps of the yucky stuff through the straw. I am hoping it helps this time, too.

I forgot to add that I am 5'2" and weigh 101.8 pounds...I am tiny and took the full dosage with no problems!

Cocoa, apology accepted, and thank you. And I agree, it is a small price to pay, if you can tolerate the prep. But I do remember one person on this thread even ended up in the hospital from it.
There are a lot of great suggestions on this thread to try to make it easier for others. But if one has any sensitivity to sucralose, or is of low body weight and takes the entire dose, or has a strong gag reflex, they are bound to have more problems than the "average" person would. I thank God , both for a great gastroenterologist, and the fact that decades ago, this test would not have even been an option, and my pre cancerous polyp would have perhaps have, in time, gone detected long enough to end my life.

OK... my first suprep was done at 3:06. Within 20 minutes I was on the toilet. SO FAR this has been easy! HINT: I had a Apple Jolly Rancher sitting on the cabinet unwrapped. I drank my mixture very fast, I credit that to my college days of chugging beer!!! I immediately put the jolly rancher in my mouth. Filled my glass up with water and began to walk around and around my house. As I passed the water, I drank! I prepared my bathroom with my Ipad...Cell Phone and cordless home phone. I had a movie ready to push play on my Ipad. I sat on the toilet for about 20 - 30 minutes and let things happen! BTW I enjoyed my movie. Now 2 hours later I feel great and barely having to visit the bathroom. I sure hope my 2:00 a.m. dose goes as well!

I just used this and had my colonoscopy today.
I didn't find the taste too awful...it was for sure yucky, but I just held my breath and drank it as quickly as I could. I then followed up with the water (that was harder, as I was so full). I did get the chills that others have mentioned.

I started at 6pm last night and began having movements at 6:40pm that lasted until about 10:00 pm. Then I had a movement every hour (no good sleep for me) until I had to take the second dose at 4am. It worked almost immediately the second time and I continued to have very frequent movements until 8am. By that time my movements were as clear as water.
The colonoscopy was a breeze. They gave me my IV, the doctor said hello, and then I woke up in recovery.
I will use this next time if given the choice, although I have nothing to compare it to.

OK, I am big enough to apologize for being so insensitive. You plead your case very well. But if you go back through this thread, you will notice that there are many others who whine about the taste, the discomfort, etc, and they are not in your category. The prep is not a fun experience, but it is little price to pay for the resulting good examination of one's condition. Hopefully, everyone who reads this thread comes out of their colonoscopy with a clean bill of health.

Coc0a, it is really sad that you presume to know the effects another might have with something that doesn't bother you. That's why certain people have to stop taking, say, a prescription anti hypertensive, and another has no problem with it. A few years ago, I took the large horse pills as a prep, and had no problem. But the Suprep, which is supposed to be easier , bothered me because of the sucralose. Yet, I know people who got very sick when taking the pills. Each person is different, and the sooner that doctors (and people like you) realize that, the better it will be for all of us. When it comes to medication/preps/ pharmaceuticals. of ANY kind, one size does NOT fit all. It hink that you owe every "delicate" person on this thread an apology.

Lady Di - use the Gatorade as a chaser. Mix the Suprep with water and then take a swig of Gatorade AFTER you drink the Suprep just to kill the aftertaste (which really isn't that bad). You're doing fine. It's only a one time prep. Too many "delicate" people on this thread. You'd think they were being tortured. It sure beats the alternative!

I just drank my first bottle mixed with clear Gatorade, at 6 pm. It started working at 7:40 pm. It was almost too sweet mixed with the Gatorade. It had a slightly bitter aftertaste. It wasn't as bad as I thought though. My tummy is uncomfortably full of liquid but I don't have any cramps or nausea. I drank a lot of Gatorade this afternoon and had some chicken broth and jello an hour before the suprep. I was trying to stay hydrated and get some nourishment in my belly as a base for the suprep so I wouldn't feel nauseous. I think I will mix my morning suprep with water instead, since it was so overly sweet. Yesterday I had noodle soup for lunch and started the clear liquids after that and had broth and jello for dinner yesterday. I didn't have to start clear liquids until today, but I think this helped make the cleansing process easier.

First dose at 6PM.

At 11:30 I searched the web for how long it's supposed to take. Nothing but rumbling after 5 hours.

I used this product for the first time and everything when relatively easy, but; I read quite a few experiences from the website and took the best. Here is what I did:

Had some chicken broth before I began and a pepcid.
Mixed it with a straw and placed the straw way back in my throat. Chilled the potion first.
Immediately, put Peppermint extract on my tongue
Drank Chicken Broth ~ before I drink potion.
Followed the "potion" with Peach (white) cranberry juice
Ate Jello
Cottonelle with Aloe - TP
Prep H - towelets.
Gatorade.
I did eat very light 2 days before the Prep and I am sure that helped.

Thanks for everyones input, it was great advice.

The key is if you are allergic to the sweetener or not. , not how much is in it. Also, if you read "Over Dose", written by a physician, Jay S. Cohen, he states that dosages are based on a 175 pound man. Unless you are that size, it may affect you differently than it would a 110 pound woman. Another thing to consider is if you are gluten sensitive. You metabolize things differently,. Commonsense would tell us that not everyone reacts the same to ANYTHING, whether it's a food, a beverage, or a drug.

Yes, I used this recently and I suggest you drink both bottles the night before your procedure.

I agree with "healthy". I'm a big wuss when it comes to tasting anything icky and this didn't bother me. I can't imagine that it has a massive amount of sucralose or other sugar (artificial or otherwise) in it because I have reactive hypoglycemia and would have definitely felt a blood sugar spike and a subsequent drop.

Please....Not everyone has a bad experience with Suprep.
If this is your first experience with Suprep and are reading this thread before starting, don't be afraid!!! I am the biggest whimp around and it was super easy and worked well. I followed some of the suggestions earlier in this thread, which really helped. I had no side effects at all.
If I would've read all this negativity before my prep, I would have been scared to death..........
