Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

Done! Woke up feeling a million times better than before the procedure. Went in at noon. Got out at 1:50. Good for 5 years! Hot diggity!

Oh man, took the 2nd dose and it was bad. I couldn't chug it as fast as the first dose. Salty, like brine. Ugh. I held a lemon ricola in my mouth, it helped a little. Seems to be working faster this time.

I have been on a liquid diet for 48 hrs, took my 1st dose at 5:45 pm. It was nasty, but definitely not as bad as Go-Lytley. I held my nose and chugged it, follows by the two 16 oz cups of water. Results started at 6:30pm. It's now 10 pm and I think I'm done going. My appointment is at 9:30 am tomorrow, so I think I will start the 2nd dose at 3am. I sure wish I had read these posts prior to starting the process, I would have stocked up on wipes and preparation-h. The Suprep was $70 WITH insurance. I also experienced chills, but I think it is because I hadn't eaten in 2 days. I have chronic constipation and I am afraid of not being cleaned out, but it looks like this stuff works. I will tell you tomorrow what the doc says.

The second round was pretty gnarly. Got a quite a headache but I don't know if it was from the Suprep or not eating anything substantial. Anyway, I took it at 9PM and now it's 8AM and feel a lot better. The procedure is at noon.

I drink prune juice every now and again when I get constipated. It causes a lot of bloating, gas, and is pretty violent stuff. The Suprep ended up being a lot smoother. Not much gas and bloating. Maybe it's because I haven't had any solid foods in 24 hours? By the way, I'm doing this on the job. Don't want to take off all my leave if I don't have to.

Drank the Suprep in two chugs. It didn't taste all bad. Kind of like a weak cough syrup flavor and certainly not as thick. Now I'm taking gulps of water every few minutes to get to the required 32 ounces in an hour. It's been about ten minutes so nothing as of yet.

after reading this forum I was very nervous about taking the first dose...I had to pace around the house to boost myself up...it wasn't as salty as I thought it would be but I HATE artificial grape flavor so this was very difficult for me to drink...after a few minutes I sliced up a lemon and sucked on a slice every time I took a big gulp and it truly cut the taste. I'm not sure how I'll ever get the second dose down but at least I got the first one done in 10 minutes...now I guess I'll just sit or stand around and wait

Just had my first colonoscopy on Friday. I was terrified, but it really was an absolutely breeze. I'm only 30, but have lots of family history so the Dr. thought I should get one done early.

Suprep went down just fine - and I'm someone who really rarely drinks a lot of liquid at one time. No cramping at all, worked in about 20 minutes both times, and I was all done and clear in about 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

It tastes a bit like dimatapp (anyone remember that?!) mixed with alka-seltzer - it's got sort of a sweet and salty taste. It's not something I'd drink for fun, but it's certainly drinkable.

The second dose was a little bit tougher than the first. The first I just chugged right down along with the two containers of water and then paced around the house looking like I was 8 months pregnant for 20 minutes. I had a very early morning appointment (7am) so I had to get up at 4:30 for the second dose. I had only gotten about two hours of sleep and was starving and nervous, so I think my stomach was a bit unhappy with me. I had to drink the second dose much more slowly - three large sips every five minutes chased with some water. I tried a ginger-ale chaser, and a gatorade chaser, and a peppermint tea chaser and none of them worked as well as plain old water. It never made me feel nauseous or anything, and though I'm a little curious about other preps, I would use this again.

Both times, I set myself up with my laptop and some Netflix in the bathroom and didn't have any problems at all. I would really recommend this because since there is no cramping, there's very little warning that you need to go until you NEED TO GO. One super helpful tip that someone gave me was to get some Preparation-H medicated wipes. I didn't need them the first round, but by the end of the second round I was really happy to have them close by. The movies were a nice distraction and really the whole thing was not NEARLY as unpleasant as I thought.

Got to the Dr. in the morning, feeling a little crabby and hungry, was admitted by some lovely nurses, they set up the IV and the next thing I knew it was all over and I was happily singing to myself in the recovery room. The drugs are a hoot - you have absolutely no idea what's going on, but in a really pleasant way, and you have not a care in the world. I don't remember a thing about the procedure, didn't feel a single bit of pain and overall am just really glad to have gotten the first one over with so that I know how this goes.

The Dr. mentioned several times that the prep was excellent and that I was perfectly clean, so it's nice to know that Suprep is something that also works really well - a good prep is really essential.

Good luck!

It's been 2-1/2 hours since my second dose of Suprep. Drinking the awful tasting liquid was the hardest part. Sipping apple juice after each drink helped get rid of aftertaste. Started to eliminate each time in about 30 minutes. My colonoscopy is in 5 hours.

I am now a week after my prep and colonoscopy. It was quite tolerable. The taste was not too bad, especially using straw to back of mouth. The additional drinking went down ok, as I used water flavored with Crystal Lite type flavorings. One thing...stay near the commode after drinking; for me it worked really quickly! The worst part for me was that I had to do my second dose at 3 AM due to an early appointment for the scope. But I had all day to sleep once I got back home. I survived! You will too, Keep a positive outlook! :o)

I found it tasty, surprised to hear about others whining about taste and smell.
Since I am on liquid diet all day and had been to toilet twice prior to taking the supres all I am passing is clear liquid every few minutes while I am typing this with my iPad. Need to keep water bottles in the toilet since I am passing lot of water. Also don't forget to keep your phone and iPad since you will be there for a while. I drank additional two 16 ounces of water immediately after the first dose hoping it won't dilute so much.

I finished my first dose. I didn't do the no fiber (was not told to) but on my own I had a liquid diet yesterday (any liquids and yogurt and pudding) and then the prep today. So far, not bad. Way better than Go Lytely! Having done the liquids for 2 days, it did work fast! We are all different and react accordingly. I want to give a word of encouragement. This is my 4th scope and this prep is easiest I have done so far.

This stuff is not that bad. I started reading this forum a day before I needed to use it. I found several helpful hints, but more than that, I found that either I'm in the unusual 5% that found this easy, or there's just a lot of whiney people out there.
This all comes down to common sense [in my opinion.] If you follow your doctor's advice on the diet plan, that being NO fiber starting 4 days before, and ALL liquid the whole day before, then this shouldn't be a rough course. The worst part of the whole thing for me was being hungry (oddly, now that I'm all cleaned out, I'm not as hungry...)
So here's my advice:
1. Do the diet right - No fiber starting 4 days out. The 'net will give you plenty of advice on what you can eat.
2. Stay hydrated - Gatorade is a great idea for keeping your electrolytes up. If you start the extra hydration when you start the diet, the end will be much easier. And don't forget - STOP the alcohol for a while. (Alcohol pulls the hydration from you, which isn't very helpful for this procedure.)
3. For taking the prep, mix it with something besides water. I used de-fizzed Sierra Mist and that wasn't very unpleasant at all. I also used a straw - but I think I like the idea someone else had about using a 16 water bottle. This would be good for people who may not like the odor (which is almost non-existent.) Make sure to drink the water (32oz) afterward!
4. Stay near the toilet, because if you've followed these tips, things are going to happen soon. Good Luck

Found it very hard to get down without gagging, and then trying to drink two more 16 oz within and hour was almost impossible. i was told to do both bottles in one day, 12pm 6 pm. couldnt hardly consume any other calories because of nausea. first two days after had terrible weakness, could hardly stand.

Took my first dose of SUPREP 75 min ago. No cramping, no nausea. I chilled the stuff before hand and mixed it with water. Used a straw to by-pass the taste buds. 3 or 4 good pulls on the straw then a swish of lemon-lime Gatorade over the tongue to chase the taste. I did my 32 ounce follow up liquids with hot Gatorade and hot water. It's snowing here today & the prep stuff made me cold. All kinds of noises from my gut and just one trip to the toilet so far...

I took the first bottle of prep at 7 pm, and had no results until almost 11. The taste made me gag, I got it down by holding my nose. I tried to get the 32 oz. of water down within an hour, but could not do it. A feeling of fullness and nausea started pretty quick. After about 3 hours I starting feeling some cramps, then had 1 1/2 hours of bathroom visits. Not sure I can complete the second portion of this prep in the morning.

Just finished my second dose of the Suprep. Although it was disgusting, It was not as bad as I expected. Is it normal for the 2nd dose BM's to be clear and yellow? And I am freezing, but I don' t run the heat very high. I wish I had read this days ago....I would have started the liquid diet earlier.

What a nice testimony. I will be using the prep in 2 weeks and your post was quite heartening. I too will have prayer support; God cares about all aspects of our lives!

I am on my first round and I am trying to finish. I only have about 5 more sips to go. Does anyone know how fast I should be drinking this stuff? I am so nauseated and this is the worst stuff I have ever had to drink. I dont have anything else to compare it to but WOW....this has been a S***TY night. Literally. I have been drinking the first round over about an hour and a half. I am already going to the bathroom. I dont know how I am going to get the second bottle down. I cant wait for this to be over.
