Sleepless In The Villages

Updated

What is the maximum dose of this drug that is being used for a better nights sleep? My doctor prescribed me 50mg. to be taken 1 hour before I plan on going to sleep. I've been taking as prescribed for 2 weeks and so far have NOT had any improvement. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

Ambien also known as Zolpidem and Silnox works well for me, but you can become dependent on them. I used to take it right before bed and listen to a sleep called sleep easily and I would be sound asleep before the CD had ended. I used to wake up on a hourly basis. I was lucky to ever get 4 hours sleep straight and when I did I felt like super woman. But this medication withe sleep easily which can be downloaded to your phone or I pad I would sleep straight through and didn't have any problems feeling groggy the next day! Good luck a good nights sleep is priceless to those of us who it seems impossible to achieve! :!

Yes, Monkey may be on the right track here, it just may not be the right medication to help you sleep.

Amitriptyline is actually a tricyclic antidepressant that may cause drowsiness as a side effect, however, like any other medication, not everyone that takes it may experience that side effect or any of the others that it may cause.

What else have you tried for your insomnia problem? Have you tried Ambien, like Monkey mentioned?

Or perhaps supplementing Melatonin?

Are you male or female?

The reason I'm asking is because hormonal irregularities may also cause insomnia, but which one may be causing it depends on your gender. For instance, women will often find themselves suffering from insomnia due to being estrogen dominant and too low in progesterone.
