I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Re: Sal (# 2977) Expand Referenced Message

“Breathing problems” are listed in the middle group of side effects. Not uncommon or rare. Thanks for reading my note and agreeing it’s a problem.

Re: Betsy (# 2976) Expand Referenced Message

You are correct this is totally due to Prolia. Keep a close eye and if it does go back to emergency. It is a type of an allergic reaction. I had a similar event which got worse not better. I only had one injection.

Re: Betsy (# 2976) Expand Referenced Message

This is definitely what is called an “ uncommon side effect “, and Dr.’s make light of the risk. Do we really know the number of women who experienced
this ? I am sorry that this happen to you, and I wish you good health.

I got my first Prolia injection Jan 22, 2020, 4 weeks ago. Last week I developed shortness of breath, less when lying flat. Worse when sitting, standing, walking. Conversation is difficult. I went to the ER 3 days ago when it worsened. Ruled out pulmonary embolism, heart tests normal. Anxious. This is some sort of reaction to Prolia. Anybody else with this? Breathing problems are listed as a side effect, but this is horrific.

Re: Lizzie (# 2970) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Lizzie,

My skin is horribly dry. I thought it was my thyroid since I had problems with it years ago. I found out I have eczema. If you haven't been checked for it, you might mention it to your doctor.

Hope things are better with you.

I agree that plant based eating and exercise is more productive than these
poisonous drugs.

I wish everyone good health.

Re: Sal (# 2972) Expand Referenced Message

I watched Forks Over Knives a few weeks ago for the first time.I bought the e-cookbook but haven't used it yet.
Plant based eating seems the best choice (for me).

I'm so happy things are getting better for you. I pray all of us will overcome the issues we're dealing with because of this drug.

Hugs,
Tambra

Re: Nikki (# 2971) Expand Referenced Message

I have the same digestive issues, but have been able avoid cauliflower. Additionally cruciferous vegetables are Thyrotoxic.
Mostly I eat a plant based diet, with a little low fat dairy. In addition to Weight Watchers, I follow The Dash Diet, eating mostly veg. Lentils are my favorite food ! They are so versatile. Besides T. Colin Campbell ( The China Study, Forks over Knives ), I enjoy Christina Cooks, on PBS Create and a web site. She has a cooking show of plant based foods. She is now middle aged, but in her 20’s she had end stage cancer, had run out of options, was encouraged to go MacroBiotic, and has been in remission ever since. Now she eats plant based, and has wonderful recipes, and she is a delightful personality.
In fact, she gives courses in Philadelphia.
Good health to you.
Hugs back,

Re: Sal (# 2969) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Sal,

Due to numerous digestive issues I can't have cauliflower or broccoli. I'm gluten intolerant and it seems like most gluten free products all have cauliflower (not my fav veg anyway.)

I ate a hamburger today (on gluten free bread) and it bothered my stomach. So, I'm going to continue with the ovo-lacto vegetarian diet and add in some raw and vegan. I wonder if eating vegetarian is just easier on our bodies because it doesn't take as much energy to digest.

I bought two packages of lentils. I've never cooked them before. I hope they turn out. Now to find the recipe to make a lentil meatloaf. If anyone likes mushrooms Miyoko Skinner has a recipe for mushroom burgers that looks wonderful. She has a video on YouTube that shows her making it.

Have you or anyone else here have issues with your feet and legs swelling? I had it occasionally and then after the Prolia, it's so much of an issue, my PCP is sending me to a cardiologist.

Hugs,
Nikki

Re: Sal (# 2969) Expand Referenced Message

What happened with your thyroid? I am experiencing extreme sluggishness, ongoing weight gain, dried out skin etc. Did not think about a link to Prolia. am currently on Thyroid meds but things not working well.

Re: Nikki (# 2968) Expand Referenced Message

I love Zoodles ! While on Prolia my thyroid went crazy, the remedy was going Gluten free. Unfortunately every time my thyroid went down, my cholesterol went up ! I am still paying the price.
Anyway, that is when I discovered Zoodles ! I can’t eat raw, but eat mostly vegetarian
I just received a notice today about plant based form of calcium. Since it is endorsed by T Colin Campbell ( a nutritional scientist and proponent of a plant based diet, I will try it. Called Osteo Bone Builder, You can Google it. Best

Re: Sal (# 2967) Expand Referenced Message

I think my last Prolia shot was September 2018. It's made my asthma worse and I now have eczema and asthma related COPD/chronic bronchitis which I didn't need because I already had a laundry list of chronic health conditions.

I'm currently eating ovo-lacto vegetarian but I'm going to be eating vegan and raw, too.
Going 100% raw is something I couldn't do but adding more raw into my diet is a good thing. Jennifer Cornbleet has some great cookbooks. She has a recipe for marinara that is wonderful! I made it and put it over zoodles (zucchini spiral noodles).

Re: Nikki (# 2966) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you, Nikki. Your sentiments are very much appreciated. My mission is to support everyone experiencing this horror.

My first shot was in 2016, and only now am I able to do some activity, so there is hope. The main point of Save Our Bones is a diet that is primarily Alkaline, at least 80%. Eat primarily a plant bases diet, perhaps drink alkaline water and do bone strengthening exercises. If there is a way to connect offline, I am happy to so, if not, we can connect online. I wish you good health.

Re: Sal (# 2963) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you. Your friendship and sharing have been encouraging and helpful. I appreciate it so much. I bought a book called Yoga for Osteoporosis and I think it was by the man in NYC.

The fatigue issue has been keeping me from exercising. I have the Silver Sneakers program on my insurance too. I haven't been in a few years. When I get the fatigue adjusted I'll be able to start the Zumba and Bollywood dance at home.

I'm watching the documentary Heal on Netflix. I think (for me personally) working on the emotional and mental thoughts that are preventing healing. Stress chemistry affects ph, more acidic = inflammation which I don't need. Disability probably won't help with auyerveda, reiki, mental and emotional energy healing. It can't hurt to add this aspect along with the diet and exercise.

There's anger at the government, my doctor, Amgen. I don't need anymore inflammation.

I'm so tired. I don't feel like doing much of anything and that adds to the frustration. I have a list of books I want to write, submit or publish. I must heal because that will give me the strength to write the books to make people happy.

I hope I can afford the Save Our Bones Program this month.

This group has been a lifesaver for me. Knowing I'm not alone and that what I'm feeling isn't isolated.

This road is painful and long but I will regain my strength and health. Every good and positive report gives me hope and I celebrate it with you.
Everyone has my prayers for continued health and happiness.

Nikki

PS: Sorry for the long post. But I appreciate you all and this place where we can meet.

Re: Gloria (# 2964) Expand Referenced Message

Well said, Gloria. !

After 4 years I am finally becoming more active.
Currently my bone density is in the danger zone, but I refuse any medication. Now that I am med free( including cholesterol meds which caused the same symptoms). I am finally increasing activity. Certainly the amount of time I spent in bed for the last 4 years must have contributed to my bone
loss! In addition to the poor eating due to the GI distress caused by the meds. We he same goes for cholesterol meds.
Everyone. check out Save Our Bones it is full of useful information, plus the latest findings.

Prolia has been a nightmare for me. I have had and am still horrible side effects from this drug. I am sure I will never be the same after tolerating 7 shots, before I realized the reason for my muscles, back, neck were in so much pain. Also, vertigo, falls for no reason other than the side effects of Prolia. the actual name of the drug is denosumab, also being marketed under the name XGEVA, given to Cancer patients, a form of chemotherapy. I was not informed, and trusted my doctor. As I said before, Prolia has been a nightmare for me. Am still on pain meds. and probably will be for the rest of my life. I hope this post helps someone to not suffer as I have. Prolia poison!

Re: Nikki (# 2962) Expand Referenced Message

Prolix is Fibro intensifies, so are Statins. My last shot was in 2017, and it has taken me until now to recover, the statin took early two months, the two together on top of Fibro were murder. Finally I am moving again. I am looking forward to Silver Sneakers next week. The past few years have been mostly in bed. My Dr’s tell me my symptoms are Fibro , but I remind them that I have had Fibro from before they were born and I know what is Fibro and what is not. Yoga is also good for Osteo, but certain poses are not. Check out Dr Loren Fishman in New York City, he has a program of Yoga for Osteo. That is a long term goal, right now I am too weak and wobbly. Be well

Re: Sal (# 2958) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you so much! Sometimes, it's hard to tell if its the Prolia or the fibromyalgia.

I hope to start my 20-minute Zumba Express soon. My asthma seems a bit more stable so I'm a bit more confident at starting it again.
Once I finish the edits on my novella and publish it in February, then it will be easier to get into a routine. I have two raw food cookbooks by Jennifer Cornbleet and a couple of vegetarian and a new vegan cookbook or two.
All of these will be incorporated into my plant-based diet. I'll be making notes on what foods affect me as well as the diary.

I am now scheduled to have another tooth pulled and another implant since it is in the front. I can’t begin to say how much this has cost me.
