Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Yes sounds like the perfect place for Prolia to attack. I wish the FDA would include in the advertising of Prolia that it is being used for bone cancer patients since 2012. This is important information that need to be made known. Gloria

Re: Nikki (# 2997) Expand Referenced Message

Makes sense to me. Probably a contributing factor in my multiple fractures.
I had an initial uptick in bone density, then a drop after a Prolia. Of course my Dr said “ I told you so”
according to the article this is normal. One important factor in building bone is exercise, but it is only now, 4 years later that I am able to do that.

Re: Sal (# 2996) Expand Referenced Message

I'll have to see if I can find this article.
As far as I know I don't have fractures in my vertebra but I have deterioration in my neck and lower back from arthritis. Unfortunately, it sounds like the perfect place for Prolia to attack.

Sending hugs!

So I just read Better Bones Blog, and there is a report on Prolia. It is worth reading.
One of the many issues is the finding that the rate of vertebral fractures after stopping Prolia, was found to be higher than if never taken it.

No wonder I have had so many vertebral fractures. !

Re: Gloria (# 2994) Expand Referenced Message

I agree. As to how long it takes for side effects from this drug to go away....it’s been 31/2 years since my 3rd and last injection and I’m still waiting! The front tooth I lost has finally been replaced with a very pricey implant but I still suffer from mouth sores which I’ve finally realized I’ll have the rest of my life. I’ve spent so much money seeing an oral specialist and tried so many treatments to no avail. I’ve stopped seeing the specialist . Spending too much and getting no relief.

Re: Sal (# 2991) Expand Referenced Message

It is absolutely poison and nothing is being done about it. As I stated so many times, I am still suffering from the horrible side effects from this poison!

Re: Lizzie (# 2990) Expand Referenced Message

I don't have the calcification and bone spurs but I do remember reading that Prolia can deposit itself in areas it shouldn't. I would contact Amgen (not sure if they are recording our information or not) but in the U.S. contact the Food and Drug Administration. An attorney might be interested. The last time I checked attorneys were only interested in the femur fracture/breaks.

Sending hugs!

Re: Lizzie (# 2990) Expand Referenced Message

No and hope never. So sorry. You poor thing. If you live in Canada this may be grounds for a suit as this is not listed on the adverse effect list and therefore Amgen may be held accountable. It is worth a try.

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Have been diagnosed with calcification of posterior longitudinal ligament and bone spurs through entire spine NOT there prior to Prolia - appears it can build bone in the wrong places - anyone else have this?

i did not have any for the first 4 shots, but after that I had and am still having most of the horrible side effects of this poison. It is a horrible drug and should be taker off the market! Now being used for bone cancer patients, a form of Chemotherapy, they should tell us that in advance. Wish I had done research before ever taking the first one, I trusted my doctor. Big mistake! Hope this is helpful. Gloria

Re: Nikki (# 2987) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you. I think it will take a bit more investigative work to figure it out. But it’s surprising how many responses I’ve gotten about breathing and other reactions. Enough that I know I won’t take a second shot.

Re: Betsy (# 2976) Expand Referenced Message

I sometimes have shortness of breath and the asthma inhalers don't always work.
The breathing problems listed on the Amgen side effects is pretty vague which is why I didn't think this breathing problem was associated with the drug.

What you described is horrible and I think I have whatever this is aggravating my asthma.

I hope you find something that helps.

Nikki

Re: Maritere (# 2982) Expand Referenced Message

I am be a similar situation. My asthma was well under control until the one and only Prolia injection then I had 3 severe asthma attacks that landed me I hospital and now have major issues with my lungs. I have been diagnosed with bronchoectasis. The doctors can’t figure anything out until I research and find that this is a Prolia issue. Very frustrating. The issue is this drug has altered our immune system and the severity is unknown. I am now seeing an allergist and immunologist so will see what she has to say.

Re: Betsy (# 2976) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Betsy,
The Prolia made my asthma worse and added asthma related COPD to my list chronic illnesses.
Lately, I've been having rapid heartbeat, feeling it pulse in my ears frequently. Tests from the cardiologist says there's nothing wrong with my heart. You're right about the frustration.

Does anyone know if there information about this on the Amgen site? Thanks!

Nikki

Re: Betsy (# 2981) Expand Referenced Message

Did you have your thyroid checked? The first reaction I had after the one and only prolia injection in 2017, was a thyroid storm that nearly killed me.... my heart was beating as fast as if I had been running a marathon all day long... I developed hyperthyroidism which later n became Graves disease that nearly killed me and caused A severe visual impairment. Please have the thyroid checked (blood tests and ultrasound). All the best to you ????

Re: Dawn (# 2980) Expand Referenced Message

Yes, I spent hours in the hospital trying to figure out the cause of this sudden onset of dyspnea. And rapid irregular heartbeat. Frustrating when tests say heart and lungs fine

Re: Betsy (# 2979) Expand Referenced Message

You are correct but they can become serious very quickly. The problem can develop into asthma. You have to read more and dig deeper as there may be other adverse events you could experience. I have been dealing with this since March 7/19. This drug is a poison not a medication for osteoporosis.
