I was given Toradol and went into renal failure. Has anyone heard of that?

Yikes! I was researching Toradol because I've had some minor renal issues since my arm fracture and surgery. (I was also taking lots of ibuprofen before and after the surgery, so the Toradol may have just been the straw that broke the camel's back).

Kidney failure IS one of the potential side effects of NSAID use, but dunno how common it is for short term administration of Toradol.

It really depends on how the individual's body processes the drugs. Some people can take a drug for a long time, with no ill effects and others can suffer hepatic or renal failure after just a short time.

Usually, there are other factors involved, such as past drugs used that have had ill effects on the renal or hepatic system, or genetic propensities.

Hi Terry - I'm sure the DDS was just concerned with liability issues. If I'm not mistaken they get scrutinized / monitored on prescriptions dispensed. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I do know they would most likely want to avoid possible trouble for distributing narcotics (even via scripts).

I know it is not recommended for people with Kidney Transplants or kidney problems.
