I have been having palpitations every day suddenly for the past 3 weeks. My doctor put me on .5mg of xanax assuming it was anxiety. I decided to stop takimg the xanax after reading about how addictive it can be and my doctor started me on a beta blocker(metoprolol 25mg) to stop my palpitations amd trips to the ER until he figures out what the cause is since all of my blood work has come back perfectly fine. He told me to take half of the 25mg pill once a day as i need it. Its working for me so far but its only been a couple days. Is it ok to stop taking this medicine if i dont need it anymore since i am only taking half of the 25mg pill once a day? I've been taking Metoprolol Tartrate 50 Mg once a day for a few years now. A few months ago my doctor increased my Metoprolol Tartrate 50 Mg to twice a day. I've been experiencing EXTREME EXHAUSTION and I feel really heavily drugged especially when I'm trying to wake up in the morning. Does anyone else experience EXTREME EXHAUSTION due to taking Metoprolol Tartrate. When I first started taking the medication I felt sluggish/tired however, I thought it was due to Menopause -- now when I was instructed to double the medication I tend to think its the Metoprolol Tartrate. I have high blood pressure and also angina so I have to be on a beta blocker. Anyone else have felt the way I feel? Thanks very much for any feedback. I appreciate it as I can't take this exhaustion for an...

Since on beta blockers, atenolo or metaprolol my vision is blurry. Cannot concentrate, very frustrated. ## Hi Ashley, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to the US National Library of Medicine, both medications (Atenolol and Metoprolol) list "blurred vision" as one of their more common side effects.
