Loving Contrave!!!

So I officially started Contrave on May 24, 2017, I took my first dose a little before lunch because I had to wait for the RX to be filled. That day was pretty unremarkable, as far as potential side effects and appetite. The second day was my first day at work on Contrave, and I was fairly optimistic because the day prior went so well. I definitely felt “medicated”, I felt slower mentally, but my appetite was gone, the constant cravings, planning of my next meal, and all food thoughts were basically non-existent.
Every morning I get a Venti Coffee from Starbucks, and on days 2 and 3 I found that I really didn’t enjoy it, also, I noticed that almost immediately after my coffee I felt hunger for the first time in days, and I also had a dull headache, but both the hunger and the headache faded.
During these first few days on Contrave, my desire for food was completely…..gone. I had what I would call a “mourning” period; there was such a night / day response to the meds that it was a shock; I had a mix of emotions. I was happy I was free from obsessive food habits, but I also kind of felt like a friend died.
Anyhow, still going strong 6 days in, and 9 lbs. down, not really hungry now that I know that sugar triggers hunger, and I am keeping those headaches away with a tiny amount of honey when I feel one coming on (I find that the honey is just enough natural sugar to make the hypoglycemia headaches and nausea stay away, but not enough to make me hungry.

I started my contrave today. Wanted to support and get support from someone that started close to my date 6/3/17. Im a 45 year old woman 5'8 and weigh 189lbs. We'll see how this goes. Ive also recently stopped smoking cigarettes. Today is 4weeks without a cig.

I am just starting the full dosage this week. I have only lost between 5-10 pounds and that was within the first couple of weeks. Just wondering if it will get better. I can tell it helps some with cravings and I am eating less... just seems like the scale isn't budging.

@Brooklyn - Just wanted to say congrats to you on quitting cigarettes... It sounds like you're on the right track! If I were you I'd probably give the Contrave at least a few weeks to a month before determining if it's really working in the way that it should. I know for myself personally, when I'm on a diet and/or exercise regimen, that's about how long it takes for me to see noticeable results from my consistent efforts... although, I do realize we're all different.

@Michelle - Have you been doing any sort of exercise or strength training while taking Contrave? I only ask because muscle weighs more than fat... So if you're losing fat and building muscle, the scale still wont budge... If this is the case, I would just encourage you to continue on your path and keep up the great work! Water retention might also be a factor to take into consideration on the scale...

Jade - I am interested to see how your progress is now being a month into it. I am on day 7. My first 3 days I felt like a million bucks. I was productive and I could go go go!! I too am so excited that I don't feel like my next thought is food. It is an awesome feeling that when I have a plate full of food for dinner that I am only eating for fuel, not for the craving. The food still tastes good but I don't have the urge to gulp it down just so I can get seconds. I don't think I have eaten an entire meal since I started taking this. The craving for sweets is minimal. I only had one time on day 2 in the evening where I wanted something sweet but I couldn't decide what I wanted so I didn't give in. I have has some bouts of nausea but I just breathe through it. One thing I think people need to understand is there still is a little work that needs to be done on our part. We cannot just leave it up to Contrave to lose weight. Exercise is important so you don't lose muscle.
