Oxycodone or Oxycontin is this time released? Or immediate release?

There are no generic formulations available of Oxycontin, there are only generics available of the instant release and the regular release. Additionally, the instant release is only available in 5mg capsules.

Thus, if you have a tablet that does not have the OP marking and it is from the U.S., then it is fairly safe to assume that's most likely a regular release tablet.

This one is a generic for Roxicodone, which is a name brand for the regular release formulation and it contains 20mgs of Oxycodone.

Where did you find it?

Verwon, I was reading your response to Kiki, and I have a question for you. What is the difference between Oxycodone and Oxycotin?

Hi Susie,

I sort of stumbled upon your post after looking over some related content. The answer to your question is that Oxycontin is simply a longer lasting (time-released) version of Oxycodone. There are really no other apparent differences between the two active ingredients in and of themselves. It's really just the way they're being released.

The only differences that most people generally aren't aware of, is the fact that different manufacturers use different binders/fillers in their tablets along with the Oxycodone; often times effecting its bioavailability in a lot of the cheaper generic versions.

I hope this info helps!

David, Thanks. So people who say "oxycotin" and "oxycodone" interchanging them, aren't far from the truth? The binder/filler in a brand of oxycodone, is what started me with all the questions, I've posted this past week LOL. I've posted complaints several locations on this website also. Several of us have had horrible problems with KVK Tech Inc. oxycodone in the 30mg and 20mg. I've been told the oxycodone is actually in their product but the binder/filler isn't transmitting it to our central nervous system to kill the pain. I was told the FDA allows up to a 12% fudge factor on the effectiveness of some drugs. I was told that Walgreens, Kroger, and Safeway know there's a problem but as they got a "good deal" on price, this is all they are selling. Do you know if any of this is true? or did I just run across a manufacturer that isn't effective for me and causing me side effects? And because I am in a rural area with only 3 pharmacies, it's just my local problem?

No your right about the inactives... They are terrible in all kvk brand! Tell your pharmacist you are gluten intolerant and you have to have a lactose base generic, have doctor write on script say you get heartburn & ask pharm if they will order you malencrot brand every month. They are best and only have 3 inactives vs the 15 inactives in kvks, Vs & As. They should order for you and I find Ms to work best, for longest and no heartburn.

It's disgusting what they add to pills when you look up what each ingredient is.... Some are cement compound, wood pulp corn starch, potato all kinda weird s***. Keeps the pill from metabolizing so if I have to take kvk, V or A I CHEW them.

Took me a year or being sick off and on & thought it was dye but turned out to be the gluten and ingredients for me. ?? good luck!

whatever they are using, KVK Tech products are inferior to the others. Have a small run of good luck going right now, knock on wood (filler LOL), I found an independent who will order the others for me. Hopefully that doesn't change for a long time.

Yeah kvk tech have always been the best for pain control for me. Lately though it seems they have been in-effective. Change in receipe maybe? Who knows but Malinkrodt are by far the worst GENERIC/bio-similar manufactuer of oxycodone product out there. I had the M30 boxes once and never again!

Is a 20mg oxycodone small round light purple pill with k on top and 57 on the bottom the same as an oxycodone-acetaminophen, generic for percocet? Also is it an immediate release pill and not a time release pill?
