Ip 190 500 - Is It A Narcotic? (Top voted first)

A friend gave me a pill that has IP 190 on one side and 500 on the other side. I would like to know what it is?

I'm 65yrs. Old I have Fibroymaliga--for 30yrs. Also add to that Osteoporosis,Ostoarithis,Musclespams daily. I am currently on Perrecott 10/325 , a close friend gave me a couple of ip190/500 . Is there any bad reaction to this?

They don't arrest people for taking someone else rx that is Naproxen.

If your medication past the expiration date that doesn't mean your medicine is bad it just gets a bit weaker. So if you're prescribed to take one pill of something you'll probably need 2 or more for the same effectiveness of the medicine. And this is coming from my fiance a pharmacist.

E.R DOCTORS ARE A JOKE!! Told me nothing wrong with my back and I lost three discs in my back..also told me nothing wrong and had to have kidney stone surgically removed..so get more opinions before u take their word..be careful who u listen to..lots of i****s out there INCLUDING DOCTORS!!!

I read Ashani's reply to taking meds after the expiration date , is that person a doctor ? I would also like to know about the expiration date ,because Mine ( Ip190 ) is also expired (from 11/ 2012) I sprained my ankle recently and I wanted to take something to reduce the swelling and throbbing . found the leftover meds in my medicine cabinet . Took one last night and slept like a baby . Decided to go online and see if there was any info concerning the date or am I just extremely susceptible to the idea of what they did for me before? :)

Susan, IP 190/500 is Naproxen (generic Aleve) It's just a stronger dose. One pill is 500mg rather than the 200 or 250mg pill you get over the counter. As with any medication take as prescribed. But as far as side effects it's no different than Aleve or Advil (generic name Ibuprofin).

Yes they will. And in some states you can get arrested for having Tylenol or vitamins on you that aren't in the original bottle, or Rx bottle.

It won't hurt you to take medications that are expired, they just may have NO effect. Medications, normally, are only effective up to six months after expiration date.

NO one is a pain killer and the other is a anti inflammatory so it wont hurt to mix. Just eat prior ..

They sell the same naproxen over the counter, only difference is the milligram is lower so u just take extra over the counter naproxen until you reach the milligram on the prescription strength. also research what the overdose dosage would be and stay about 75% of the strongest dose allowed max depending on how badly u need it at that time and consider your tolerance if u have one. If the person needs the medication than they should have it especially Ibuprofen. I would look it up but I am not mistaken 1000mg is an overdose. this is pretty common knowledge. also the O/D consists of liver damage. A generally a healthy person, the elderly, and also the children will almost 100% will recover to their original healthy state. Surely those with auto-immune would be more at risk.

As for "Citizen", You are exactly the wrong person to voice your opinion (not fact) it's not harmful to take someone else's Ibuprofen in fact you suggest that she is breaking the law, it is buerocrazy to keep someone from taking the medication she needed and it is also harmful to the person who is suffering from a trauma and or swelling which could close up ur breathing flow in certain cases. You are the type of person who would let someone go without the medication they need its Ibuprofen for the sake of snake. I hope u are not in the medical field. You're just like they are anyway denying patients their chronic pain medication, or refuse to prescribe antibiotics when someone comes in with strep throat because they send it off to a lab which takes another 4 to five more days with the worst sore throat you ever had along with a high fever and even hallucinations which all has happened in one of the 20 times I have had it I would say that makes me an expert on the subject, and the explanation that my doctor gives me is, "We don't want to create a super virus." Or how about the most recent wave of doctor idiocrazy, now they won't prescribe Benzodiazepines any longer because it may give you Alzheimer's disease.
