Hydromorphone Capsule

I can't get my RX for hydromorphone filled anywhere so had it compounded. A tech was showing the pharmacist how to compound it while I waited, so I opened one up to check it when I got home and it had black specks looking like pepper mixed into the white powder. Any explanations? I will not take the caps till I find out what is in them.

Most likely, it's just a filler or something they used in the compounding process, but the only person who can give you a definitive answer is the pharmacist that compounded it for you. Don't worry about going in and asking, they are used to getting questions like yours and shouldn't hesitate to help you.

The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
