How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 10)

Updated

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Yes the RLS. I still get it but can't determine when it will happen. Requip is a medicine that can help with RLS. I use it when I feel it coming on. I hope you are doing better each day. My thoughts are with you. It's crazy but there comes a day when you wake up and you just know that it's going to be a much better one. You're almost there. I wish you the best. Drink lots of water, and try to eat as much as you can. And try to move around as much as possible. I know it sounds easier than it is. Keep the faith.

I think it's great that you're not having many problems at 4 days. If you're still good a 7 days I think you're going to do very well. I saw a few people who were on a higher dose than I was on and they did so much better than me. They basically had some sleep issues and minimal RLS. I've seen that the severity of withdrawals is different for each person. For me is was pure hell for a long time, but I'm not sorry I went through it. I feel so much better now and finally sleep through the night. Never thought that would be such a big thing for me to rejoice over. But when you're not sleeping right for 2 months it became something for me to celebrate. Hope you're doing well today.

Thats great... yea i know everyone is different and im praying I will be ok. Ive quit cold turkey off of methadone years ago and it was utter hell. Thanks for talking to me. My mom has been helping with visterol and adavan and its taking the edge off... I just want to feel normal again it feels like forever.... I would think 5 years being on 8 mgs a day I would be suffering much worse....

Hey outlaw I'm proud of you for making the decision to stop. I've been told by ex H users that methadone and Suboxone are harder to quit than the big H. Sounds like your mom knows what she's doing to help take off the edge. If you get RLS you might want to consider using Requip. It's a drug specialized for RLS. I did up to 4 mg at night when it was real bad. It helps quell the RLS enough to help you sleep better. Keep the faith.

Thanks for the advice tom I will look into that. Im trying to eat good and stay busy as well. It comes in waves. Ill let you know how I feel tomorrow. I dread going to sleep the dreams suck and I wake up a few times but I dont want to get out of bed either. Just wish there was a magic pill to make it go away. They should ban all painkillers and opiates all together its sick how many peoples lives have been ruined from this. Ill make it through I have alot to live for and I hope everyone else on this forum realizes that they do as well... thanks

I completely understand! ! I say the same thing..I will say the suboxone took my craving for opiates away..which is good! Everyone is different but it took 3 weeks to feel about 85%. The biggest thing is sleep!! imodium helped me alot for that!! Try not to fight the sleep..watch TV play games or something or you will drive yourself NUTS!! Stay strong...YOU WILL MAKES IT;))

3 to 4gs a day that must have been 99% mannitol 1% H. I been iv. user 30+ years impossible for anyone to tolerate that amount of H if it was even 60% pure street average in scotland around 30-40%

Outlaw, just went back and read through my posts. I woke up this morning with a bad flu bug! Ugh...my longest lasting symptom is sneezing (used to love to do now hate it;) and low energy. I have not sneezed for 2 days but as I was reading what I went through and remembering it I started sneezing and nose started running...PLEASE try not to dwell on the symptoms! ! PLEASE don't go to ALL the forums and read all the horror stories!! I did and truly believe it made it worse...yes its long road but it is just a short season in ur life compared to years!! Ask Jolter I wanted to give up and break into a d*** pharmacy...ha!! But now I'm here pulling for you as he pulled for me!! YOU ARE A STRONG PERSON!! How do I know?? You quit cold turkey and that takes guts! I can't wait tell the day you are giving someone advice and I KNOW YOU WILL GET THERE;))

I'm sorry to tell you that...have you gotten out of the house? YOU NEED TO!! I know it feels like ur dragging an anchor around and ur probably dizzy feeling but CRANK some music and please trust me and go out to visit a friend for dinner or to just talk it will help tons!!!!!!!
