How Do You Take Subutex? Swallow Or Put Under Tongue To Dissolve? (Top voted first)

I have a friend who takes suboxone & recently got a subutex given to him. I take suboxone myself but ive never heard of subutex until couple days ago. I would like to know how is subutex supposed to be taken? Under your tongue or do u swallow it? I am worried about my friend & i have searched every site possible on information on subutex but none of these sites say how it is suppose to be taken. what are the side effects of subutex? why do doctors give pregnant women subutex & not suboxone during pregnancy? i need to know any & all information on subutex. i have hidden the pill from my friend until i can try 2 find some information on it & he has been sick but i dont want anything bad to happen to him.also is subutex a small white round pill with number 8 on one side & an arrow on the other & does it come in any other forms or colors etc.? I'm desperate for answers!!!!!

It's great that you get on here and try to be helpful, but it's comical that you have the audacity to label others as ignorant. After you figure out the proper way to spell, punctuate, and use the words "their" and "there," then you may have the right. I can't stand reading posts like yours, it makes me cringe. You hid your sick friends medication? F*** you. I hope they stop speaking to you. Just know what you are doing is literally torture. It isnt your place to do that. If you were going thru opiate wd you would know how horrible it'd be to find your medicine gone. You could cause them to return to drugs. Some friend you are.

U explained a lot but u dragged this on for no reason ... I've been on subutex for 4 years ... U take it under ur tongue and it doesn't need to be there for an HOUR it just needs to dissolve which it does pretty quickly ... Usually 15-20 minutes ... Suboxon is good but the with drawl from that sucks so I enjoy my subutex. ..its just as good and it doesn't taste like shyyit ... Don't ever hide medication from someone whose already on suboxon just because u don't know what it is ur f***ing stupid for that .... Its not ur call to do anything like that ... I would kick ur f***g a$$ for pullin shyit like that and ur friend being sick makes u even more of a scumbag ... Give him his medication and let it be ... Its prescribed for a reason dumba$$...

This dude actually makes a lot of valid points. The bupe in subutex or suboxone is stronger then the naloxone they put in suboxone, it is only in there as a deterrent for abuse. If u shoot suboxone u will get sick if u shoot subutex u won't, I agree the naloxone is poison, and insist on only getting subutex, plus subutex comes in generic form now so its much more affordable then suboxone which only comes in brand form and if you pay cash they r almost ten dollars a pill vs 2.50 for the generics. My Dr has no prob giving me subutex, and it saved my life!!!!

Angry much, L ? Been taking Subutex 16mg for four years and have NEVER had any issues! Oh and by the way, you can and should chew up the pill and cover the entire insides of your mouth since you maximize absorption this way. PS Life's too short to be angry. Smile and the world will smile back :) !!!!

Oh good I swallow mine I can't do it the way you have to taste so. Grossly I have been off of pills for 2 MONTHS that's a long time for a every day life style I lost so much stuff in pawn lost my grandmas ring I am hart broken that I lost it we where Varry close anyways I got red flagged in all drs an er an I owed so many people I thought where my friends but now I look back they had what I wonted kinda odd they don't call me but I came to my brain lol I don't need them not in a million of years did I think I would say that I have had Dr in the Er just be a big u no what to me. So iam Varry proud of my self an my family is to so anyone wanting treatment go get it you will save you're life an the money I have had my family die from ods my uncle then 2 weeks later my aunt so I am thankful for treatment I think it saved my life

Subutex & Suboxone should ALWAYS be taken sublingually (Under the Tongue) & yes, A very small white pill with an arrow on 1 side & 8 on the other is 8mg of subutex. Subutex & Suboxone both come in many different looking pills. One type of Suboxone comes in an orange film-like strip about 1/2in x 1in. When taken under your tongue, it gets absorbed by those blood vessels you see when you lift your tongue. Some people like to snort it, but you should never swollow it. It loses a lot if it's potency when swallowed. If your friend is "Dope Sick" give him 1/2 of the pill, tell him to put it under his tongue, & leave it there 'til it's completely desolved & gone. He'll be "Well" immediately. Suboxone saved my life...It's a mirical drug & much easier to come off of. It has a VERY long half-life meaning that it stays in you system for a very long time. I take 1/4 piece every 6hrs & I'm perfectly fine. No side effects or adverse reactions, with me anyway...

You CAN NOT DIE FROM OPIOD WITHDRAWAL. You may feel like you want to die, but you won't. You can die from alcohol withdrawal and benzo withdrawal. Please don't give random info you were told or thought. Know the facts. This is hard enough for those who are addicts and the people that love them

I know it's been on here for a while .. I have subotex pill says 54 411 and is white .. it has no score lines .. can I break into qtrs? I was on suboxone only 1 to 2 mg .. is it also okay that I switch from suboxone one day and subotex the next day ..? Please help

He's sick? What kind of friend are you give him the medicine and yes that is subutex. It's fine and you let it dissolve under the tongue and I was on suboxone while pregnant he's one now and healthy as an ox. If he is sick you need to give him the medicine...pooor guy...

Amen ! It's not your place to take their medicine ! You try going through what your friend is going through and I bet u would hurt somebody if they hid your meds like that YOUR DUMB . It takes a one second Google search to figure your stupid question out not that it's your business

Nichole, Suboxone is Buprenorphene & an Opiate blocker...Subutex is just the Opiate, Buprenorphene, which has a very long half life which means it stays in your system for a very long time & is definitely taken Under the Tongue...If you look under your tongue you'll see that there are many Blood vessels there & by placing the medication there it is much more quickly absorbed into your blood stream...If swallowed it must go thru your Digestive system where it takes much longer to get into your system...It is a VERY good replacement for narcotics...Opiates that is... It doesn't make you feel really high it just sorta' gets you well if you're withdrawing...Taking it "Sublingually is the most efficient way to take it...If it's prescribed to you it should say on the bottle to take it Sublingually...It's definitely better than trying to find Opiates to take...Good luck...It's also much easier to get off of than Opiates!

Clearly this person is talking about themselves. There is no friend. They just don't want to sound like a junkie by taking subutex. So she put it off on someone else. That's clear. All the questions ... And the detail that this person knows?? And she added that in that she "hid the pill" because she wants to sound like she trying to be a good friend. But if this was a real post why put that in there ? What was the purpose of us knowing that she hid the pill until she found out as much as she could ... Blah blah blah. Just own up to your own s***!! I'm a 22 year old addict in recovery and I've been taking heroin for 7 years. Among many other drugs. Any drug actually. But that's besides the point.. The point I'm going for here is to embrace who the f*** you are!! Why hide it?? Why pretend to be someone you are not... Trust me I'm well aware that a drug addict isn't really an ideal choice for a life career. But it happens to 70% of us. So get over it. Get the f*** over society and judgemental f***s running us into the ground. We are human beings with a damn disease. So live your life the way you want.. Don't hide your addiction from anyone. That's the most embarrassment a junkie could ever receive.. Is one of our own pretending to be someone their not. Pretending to not be a fiending junk box looking for the solution in life ... Get over yourself. And move on with life. We're all in the same game.. Just different levels. Dealing with the same hell just different devils.

Some people have jobs we can't just quit for a week, or employers who wouldn't understand. Subutex saved my life. Weaned off it for a year and now I'm off and clean and happy. Some people can't do cold turkey. Just because it worked for your mild addiction doesn't mean my 10 year opioid habit will be cured by cuddling a stuffed animal in bed for 4 days dude.
