After eight years I am finally rid of the oxycodone but am asking help, trying to find out more on what led to my dependency. I had hip replaced in 2003 by o4 it was removed because of issues, then going several months without a hip in April of 2005 rreplacement made this second hip was worse than first and need for pain medications necessary, once the oxycodone took hold I lived a life of incompetency being in a state of euphoria, finally the med took its toll and attempted suicide took place, it was here and then when people from wife, to doctors to law enforcement took situation seriously, I am on road to recovery, undergoing many tests it is now believed a revision of the hip is needed and sign show no evidence of infection which is a plus, the cost of revision is aimed at $200,000.oo but because of so many complications prior to, the risk is great and liability is a factor of doctors concern. The imfo I am asking for is needed to be provided by a honest orthapedic surgeon or lawyer who has knowledge of why, the why is IN 2005 A NEW HIP , 5 PIECES, WAS BROKEN DOWN TAKEN THE MANUFACTURERS 5 PIECE HIP AND USING TWO PIECES AND THEN TWO PIECES FROM ANOTHER COMPANY AND FINAL PIECE FROM THIRD PARTY, WHY WOULD A DOCTOR DO THIS? TAKE A PERFECTLY DESIGNED HIP AND ORPHAN IT UP, IT WOULD BE LIKE PUTTING A CHEVROLET MOTOR IN A FORD CAR, CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE DOCTORS THINKING OR LOGIC, this is believed to what caused the last 8 years of a living hell, and dependency on oxycodone. Thank you

Amen. I totally agree with you. I was prescribed medication for severe spinal pain after my motorcycle accident & then another car accident. I have now noticed that ever since the tablets have changed from "OC" to "OP" they DO NOT at all take away my pain nor do they same to do anything like they once did. I never abused my medication like some others did & I now have to fight with my doctor to try and find another medication that will give me my quality of life back. Im so sorry to hear that you are going through the same thing but just know you & your family are not alone. God bless & thank you for your time served for our country.

To the marine you r a hypocrite you call people junkies when all they r doing is the same thing ur doing finding a way to stop there pain faster what makes you any better you admit itself you chew them to get faster relief huh isn't that what everyone is trying to do? What you think ur better cause you chew them and don't snort or shoot them. Ur still altering them and that's why purdue changed the formula to stop any tampering with them. So u might want to think about what u say before u make itself sound stupid again

You chew them up for your breakthrough pain ?? The reason they made ops so you couldn't chew up an oxy 80 and get 80 Mgs all at once that can kill you.

To the marine I understand your agOny and pain, I also have a severe back injury I have been on pain pills for over 10 years but when my insurance refused to pay for my meds anymore I had no other choice but to buy off the streets and ya I might be addicted but I promise if your insurance cancelled u u woul be out in the streets buying the stuff too it's not a life I like or chose its what I was given to me and I deal with what I got u knew that u might get hurt or even die when u joined the marine corp but u can't blame others for the pain u go through, I have had 22 back surgeries and am fully aware of what pain is I respect u for serving our country I really do but there are people fighting a war right here at home and it sounds like u r one of them. I hope things get better for u and your family I will keep u in my prayers and heart I just hope u change your opinion o others that might use the drug oxycotin bc we don't know there situation

You weren't taking your medicine as Intended either. The bottle doesn't say chew for bad pain. It says DO NOT chew NOT being the key word in this sentence. Your just as much as a junkie as all the people on here!!! You mad because now you can't get high like you did before. Plenty of people have accidents and pain and they take their meds like perscribed unlike you. So wake up and look in the mirror and see you abused your drugs as well!!! Thanks for your service to our country and I feel for your pain but keep in mind that you chose to fight for your country and freedom. No one made you do it. Don't try to put a pity trip on people when you are taking your meds wrong as well!!!

Quit judging others ya bunch of hypocrites. Probably half of you are closet alcoholics and the other half are into child porn or christianity or some equally whacky vice. This is supposed to be forum to exchange information, not a guilt trip from 30 moms.

Semper Fi:
Dude, UR totally right! I have a fuggedup back to and I know how U feel. Ask UR doc to prescribe Oxycodone 15/30ml for breakthrough pain. Since the pills can't be chewed they're virtually useless so U can go way down on the OxyContin and have him give U oxycodone 3x a day. Most pain clinics will do that. They're so glad when U say U wanna go down on the OxyContin, they don't mind giving U percodan or Oxycodone. I'll pray for U dude- thanks for serving our country🇺🇸

I don't know what the f*** you guys are complaining about! I personally see no difference in OC/OP when it comes to relief of pain. So what, it's time released....so what, you can't snort or shoot it....It's not DOPE... if your gonna slam and bang go buy a bag of dope...damn! And as for the people blaming junkies for the change to OPs....F*** YOU...It's not their fault your country sets rules and regulations to control every aspect of your poor pathetic lives.... Blame the government... They're the real crooks.... They make billions upon billions... Organized crime... regulated drug dealers...Land of the Free my ASS!

I agree did you not say you were chewing them up?sounds like a junckie move to me.if you doc was giving you op just ask for non time release but I would not suggest telling him you want to switch cause you chew them.get non btime release.lol

better yet...get a med. size NEW/CLEAN wood file or rasp (6" lg.) also a small jewelers hand vise (has handle & jaws are only 1" or less) you only can do this with the 40's or larger because anything smaller doesn't powder but comes off in sherds and if snorted has very little effect. So hold 1/4 of the pill in edge of vise, on jaw edge leaving 3/4 of pill hanging out. Get a shallow cup (ashtray/jar cover) to put under pill while you slowly file down, when you can't get anymore you can carefully remove and turn whats left and file somemore. This method will get you a nice fine powder almost like crushing and yeld the same effects. Like I said it is a waste of time to try this on the 20's, they are the same size dimmensionlly as the 40's so they have twice as much of the bonding agent and WILL NOT file into a powder but only come off in long string like strands.

Over a year ago you wrote about a hip replacement you had that went wrong and asked for information from reaerder about such. Well... I was employed by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC in the 70's. I was an Instrument Maker and had dealing with replacement hip manufactures. One needs only to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS that come in the box to know that you are NOT TO MODIFY these replacement joints IN ANY MANOR, WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!!! It is spelled out in plain simple english!! (I will mention way doctors do it at the end.) These hip manufacturies have spent millions of dollars perfecting Tungston/Vanadeium alloys that are bullet proof and have stock piled a furtone in the invatory of sizes and shapes so that people like you can have an EXACT REPLACEMENT HIP implanted, that will serve them for the rest of there lives. Why do doctors mess with theses hips??? Simple.... hospitals DO NOT KEEP an invatory for them, to many shapes and sizes. Also, over 90% of hip replacement surgenys where asleep or absent when these companies where teaching the class on how to fit replacemen hips. Most doctors DO NOT CARE about 5 or ten years later when the scare tissues has taken over the joint to where infection has set in. In the instuctions that come with these hips it explanins to how high a micon leave these joints have been polished, it tells the doctor NOT TO UNPACK OR EXPOSE THESE JOINTS BEFORE SURGETY!!! To autoclave (sterialize) them in the sealed boxes they are shipped in so as not to dirty, dent, scratch or ding the replacement hip IN ANY WAY!! Just a small scratch is enough 5 or more years later to cause a scaring and infection. BUT...... MOST DOCTORS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR HIP 5 YEARS LATER THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT HERE AND NOW!!!!!
I can not tell you how many replacement hip joints I modified for doctors with paients on the operating table. Thats right..... people opened up waithing for their new hip joint on the operating table!! The doctor sees that the bone spike is to fat, to long... whatever.. he raps the exposed joint in a towel after marking it up with a marker just where he wants it GROUND DOWN and sends it off to the MACHINE SHOP where I would get it and have at it!!! I did this for many years util I read those instructions and refused to do it anymore!!! Before I refused to do it anymore I spent about 6 months asking questiosn of these doctors bcause my mother has these inplants and the most shocking answer I got was: "WELL, MOST OF THESE HIP PAIENTS ARE OLDER (60-70) AND WILL NOT LIVE LONG ENOUGH FOR THE SCARING AND INFECTION FACTOR TO BE VIABLE!!!!!"
