Help! I Just Moved To Charlotte And Need A Pain Doctor

My Neurologist in nyc has had me on 30mg oxy (PO every 4-6 hrs), which I have been taking for the last 2 years. I just moved to Charlotte NC and I need a doctor who will do a similar routine. southeastern pain care is not one of them. I just won 10, and without any examination, this position told me that I have fibromyalgia and that I need to be on fibromyalgia medication. He didn't examine me, he didn't do anything. He did give me medication for withdrawal. Anyhelp would be appreciated so much.

What condition are you diagnosed with?

If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you will need to see a pain management specialist, due to the new regulations that were set forth by the DEA last year. A general practice physician won't be able to help you.

Have you tried consulting a neurologist in your new area?

Do you have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone?

The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

I was a dancer, marathon runner and equestrian for 20 years. The toll has been taken on my joints. The condition worsened while I was pregnant 2 years ago (miscarried). My neuro thought I had lupus, so I went to a rheumatologist, nothing came back on the blood work). I have been scanned, poked, prodded and drained. I do not have anything that comes up positive on my blood work. More or less, it's just a musculoskeletal pain disorder. I know a pop won't prescribe, and most neuros in the area won't touch the stuff. Ie contacted a pain clinic (the first one told me I have fibro, without even frigging giving me an exam, doing blood work or consulting with my old neuro).
