If it is in the original factory sealed container, then yes, it is most likely still good. When stored like that they usually last about 4 years.
However, if it is in a pharmacy dispensed bottle, then it would have expired one year from the date of issue, because those bottles can leave it exposed to the elements that cause degradation, such as heat, light and moisture.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
