Finding A Doc To Prescribe Oxycodone In Springfield Mo (Top voted first)

I have a very bad neck injury and I'm taking 4 x 10mg oxycodone a day for pain. I've moved to Springfield recently and all of the doctors offices tell me "Oh, our policy is never to prescribe narcotics." Even the hospitals won't prescribe it and have a family practice docs list and at the bottom of the page the disclaimer states none of the above doctors will prescribe narcotics. I need help anyone know a good doctor with in 200 miles of Springfield Mo. who will prescribe oxycodone?

I know of a doc that can help u. I won't post him on here cause of people that ruin for others that really need meds for pain. {edited for privacy}

I was in you're position when I moved here to Springfield also, in my case, I went to a OCH family dr. and explained I was diagnosed with ... and he said he can't keep me on long term narcotics, so he referred me to OCH pain clinic. This is the best pain clinic around. Ppl drive hours to come here and when I went in- he offered hydros and methadone and I said hydros made me irritated and oxycodone didn't, he said that's fine oxys are fine. Now I'm on the strongest pain med you can get. I wouldn't try St. John's or cox pain clinic- only as a last resort. Also dress up nice and don't look like a slob or junkie- ppl do judge as horrible as that is!
I hope this helps:-) also, I agree with the last comment, if you have proof: ex rays, MRI, your old script bottle. Etc. have u called your old dr. And asked about one last refill possibly he could mail you the script or with hydros I think they can call them to your old states pharmacy like a Walgreens and you can call a local one and pick it up here.

I can provide you with links that may help you in your search for pain management doctors that specialize in prescribing narcotics; however, there really is no way anyone can know ahead of time what these doctors are or are not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion and not solely on someone else's previous appointment.

Many of the results you find (in one or both of the links above) also list a phone number for that specific doctor; I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients; some aren't, but most usually are.

Some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a new doctor. Make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you (they usually speak for themselves). Then, the best approach is to discuss up front and honestly what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. Most doctors will take it under consideration and hear you out if you approach them in this manner. A lot of patients don't get the medication they need because they are approaching the doctor in such a needy way that they are being viewed as addicts and not patients. So as awkward as that may seem, it is something to consider...

Great Advice also. Chronic Pain affects everything! I wish I could work. I wish I could play sports again. I wish my relationships were not affected by hurting all the time on and on....I wish I were not looked at ( by the medical profession ) as a drug seeker even with MRI, xrays,Labs Titer counts etc. I wish.......Physicians that can clearly see with positive proof would do spomething to help their patients. I wish.....Even with crooked hands and an S shaped spine...I wish......

I just moved here too..been on oxy for 10 years..any help finding a new doc would be very helpful..dont know anyone that i could get a few from..people who suffer has to go thru so much in order to get the meds they really need..

Dr. Jay Baker in Springfield on evergreen st. Is a pain management. He is really great . And will give you what ever you want . Don't tell too many people who your doctor is . People here are back stabbers. And once you get black listed it hard to get back in . Take care and stay safe.

Well if ur not going to share the info on the dr that could possibly help why even post at all. I lost my dr who took care of my pain meds. Long story behind why. But that's not the point. There are lots of us out here who have taken pain meds just to have some semblance of a life. And just like everything else we that truly need them get punished and are forced to suffer because of those that misuse them. And then u get the state involved and ur screwed. Like a friend of mine said the other day who is a disabled vet and can't get pain relief or meds to help him, the illicit drug epidemic is going to sky rocket. All because the do gooders poke their nose into my medical life. Because one way or the other people will find a way to get relief. Even if it's illegal. And Drs don't want to deal with the governments scrutiny of them. So we are just screwed.

I found your post from 2013 stating that you know a Springfield, MO Dr willing to prescribe Oxycodone to chronic pain sufferers & I realize I'm totally grasping at straws here four years later, but if by some miracle this Dr is still in practice in Springfield or close by & still willing to prescribe this or other comparable pain meds could you please provide me with contact information? If not can you refer me to ANY Drs who would? I have documented chronic back pain dating back to 1992, current MRI showing bulging disc in lower back severe arthritis & several other issues responsible for my now unbearable pain. Since injury occured in '92 I have been given rx for pain meds only 2 times, no drug seeking behavior no red flags & have current rx from family dr for hydros but had to change drs due to her refusal to complete or sign any paperwork related to my disability app & now am being refused the hydros or any other pain meds had to battle new gp to get referral to pain clinic & when she finally did she instructed the dr there who was well known for prescribing pain meds freely to documented proven pain sufferers not to give me any! At wits end.

If any of you have talked with or know who Mr. Help is I need your help. Its a long story but he contacted me thru textabout his doctor friend. long story made short..he told me he owned the building that Dr.Michael Clarke practiced out of and that the Dr had agreed to treat me for pain. I was so happy I didnt think about it all and was scamed for a lot of my pain meds..almost all of them. I am asking for help..please any info..and stay away from him! save yourself.

For sciatic nerve pain, that lava burn running down your leg/legs, I bought an Inversion Therapy Table, a few mins a day on one of these has been a lifesaver for me. stretches out you spine and releases that nerve. I also watched a u tube video showing different exercises on it, big help!!!

There's someone here that said she was on 6 oxycodone 30s and 3 oxycontins a day. OMG I'm sorry but not even people who are dying get that much painkillers. The amount of meds a lot of people are reporting doing are actually a lot stronger than a dime bag of H. There's also the choice of going to the methadone clinic.

In response to the girl that is on 6/30's +3/oc ext... no doubt that is a lot, but don't forget that you have a natural tolerance that builds up with time, I had got CLOSE to that amount and THANK GOD my Dr stopped me, I don't know what your sit is BUT I am now totally off ALL the meds, for three months now and it was a battle for the first month, time stops for not less than two weeks and then you will come out, it's like being reborn.... and you can maybe get a feel for what your pain is or if you truly honestly need to be on that dose ... I am not critn anyone, I STILL have pain every day but now I just MANAGE that, NO lie it sux and controls parts of my life, just not as much as the meds, or chasing the meds or controlling as the meds, WERE... best of luck!!!

Sounds like tolerance has developed with all, sounds like drug seeking, borrow a few? It's illegal have to made an effort, not easy but others do it or just give up and keep up same difficult baehavior, probably know the answer good luck, consider practitioners thoughts, values, license
