Being Forced To Change Dr I Love

I have been seeing the same painmanagment Dr 3years. They were forced by NJ family care to discharge me because I pay cash to see him. He is very reasonable with his offfice visit fee. The meds I can't afford so I use my family care. All of a sudden after 3years they telling me there's a problem. One 38yr old woman has been there since she's 16 and Dr was forced to discharge her. He was told if he continues to see Medicaid or family care pts he'll be charged with fraud. How can they force me to change abduction allow me to see who I want if I pay

Hi, Neecee! I'm sorry about the problem you're having.

The main concern with cash paying patients is that they may be doing so to try to avoid being detected, because they are doctor hopping to get more pain medications. It is a tactic that's frequently used by drug addicts to try to game the system, so to speak….they may have insurance pay for one doctor, then they also see several more paying cash at those offices and they do it all to feed their drug addiction.

I know that's not what you were doing, I'm just explaining what's caused you to have to suffer.

Basically, the doctor has no choice, he either changes his policies, or on top of possibly being charged with fraud, he could also end up losing his license to practice medicine.

Does your insurance not cover the office visit, so you're forced to pay cash?

I was w/the same dr for 4 1/2 yrs n pd cash from the start because I'd lost my ins after divorce. I NEVER abused my meds, ran out early, etc. I had an EXCELLENT RELATIONSHIP w/my Dr. He suddenly tells me I need to start looki g for a new dr...ready? Because he NEEDS TO MAKE ROOM FOR NEW PATIENTS. WHAT! The last script I filled from him was April of 2011. That June I was diagnosed w/stage 3breast cancer. I e been laying on my couch IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN for the last 3 YRS NOW. NO ONE WILL HELP. I started a PM dr in Oct n he's USELESS. He gives me only 20mgs of methadone a day for pain. For over ; yrs I was 'prescribed' 80-100mgs of methadone a day AND 8 30mg oxycodone. Prior to that from sept of '01- nov of '04 I was givn 6 80mgs OxyContin a day, 2- 100mcg fentanyl patches every '2' days not 3. PLUS Perc 10mg for breakthrough. I'm only 48 n my 80yr old mom runs circles around me. When I had my meds I never stopped moving. Now I CAN'T MOVE. It affects my breathing...I can't get to VERY IMPORTANT Dr Appts n end up missing them. I'm stranded w/no transpo n can't take care of myself. My kids who were ALWAYS W/ME have been living w/their father for 3yrs n he keeps them from seeing me n now I'm sppsd to pay spprt that I can't afford living on disability so I've been arrested n thrown in jail twice,each time for 3days. No meds on a 2in mat on a cement floor. These Drs are KILLING ME. I e BEGGED FOR HELP. They ignore me. Now I'm homeless since april for electric bein shut off. No heat since Oct-n I can't get any help w/that either n my house is in 4closure. I'm in too much pain to hold myself up to take a shower n almost blacked out more than once trying- n I need to pack my entire house up or I'll lose everything i own. The Drs DON'T CARE. I'm 2yrs behind on surgery and need 2more. They give 5mg Percocet for post op. if ANYONE knows a Dr that will at least LISTEN TO ME- PLEEZ let me know. Ive never be. One to give up.. EVER. But the Drs are giving me no choice.
