2 Week Sub Detox

Updated

I have been hooked on roxis and methadone for the past 10 years. Before I got on suboxone I quit taking the methadone for two weeks but was taking 400 mg of roxis per day. I got put on subs exactly 1 week ago at 8 mgs per day but am currently down t to taking 3 mgs a day and plan on tapering to 2 mg tomorrow and tapering to .5 mg by the end of the second week and then quitting. My question is once I quit the subs at .5 how bad will my withdraws be?? I only wanted to stay on subs for two weeks so I didn't get addicted. All of these horror stories of coming off of subs made me decide to only stay on them for two weeks. Will someone please reply and let me know how bad these withdraws will be once I quit??? All responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

Based on my research, since you have only been taking Suboxone for 1- 2 weeks then you shouldn't experience any serious side effects. Suboxone does stay in your system for 72 hours so if you were to experience any discomfort it will take place 3 days after your last dosage. I have read that if for some reason you do have serious side effects while weening off .5mg, you could try taking .25-.50mg of suboxone and then consistently, every 2-3 days, take .25-.50mg- for up to a week or two. By doing that, you should be able to smoothly come off the Suboxone.

Here is a link to an article that talks about the different side effects associated with Suboxone withdrawal: livestrong.com/article/77467-suboxone-withdrawal-symptoms/

I hope this info helps!

red,
for 5 years i was highligh addicted to roxis myself, i was taking 2 30mg pills at a time 10-12 times a day.. so 600 mg total which is just about what your were doing. I decided to go on subs because i couldnt get keep living like that anymore. So I went to my doctor and he honeslty was amazing he wanted to make sure everything was going to be a smooth landing. I started with 2 mg every 4 hours and then after 2 weeks 8 mg twice a day so i was on 16 mg daily. after 2 weeks of that i started to take 8mg once a day, then 4mg once a day for 2 weeks, then 2mg once a day for two weeks. i felt fine and i was doing good. but i milked those 2 mg for a while.. i was so determined and felt completely fine getting off the subs by myself until i opened up a death trap....researching online about peoples horror stories. i coudlnt believe what everyone was saying i literally got twisted up into my own head about it that i thought that very second i was going thru withdrawals. So what i did was i snapped back into reality and decided to find a taper plan and not read the outcome of some of these peoples stories. everyones different and everyones stupid as well... some people were jumping off 4 mg cold turkey, when 2mg cold turkey can give you w/d. your body creates habits after 21 days and you have total control of it. the known facts of sub. is that they do stay in your system for 72 hours. which means if you jumped off from 1mg in 3 days you might feel some discomfort but its doable. but i suggest this your taking alot of sub in a short period of time so your cramming it all together which after 3 days of cold turkey you could go thru withdrawal. i highly suggest every 3 days drop down. this way your body and mind are completely done the last dose you took and just keep lowering it. lower it till literally your taking dust off the sub. I did this with a 8 mg sub starting Dec. 8 and the first week of jan. I was spacing every 3 days with a low dose and then i would do 4 days spacing, 5 days spacing. after i passed the 5 day mark, i noticed i wasnt craving it or having withdrawals really beside just some sweating in the underarm. And after the first week of jan. i went a week without anything and still had a good chunk left of the sub, so i threw it out. 1/30 will be exactly 3 weeks without subs and it feels awesome. i promise you from an addict to another addict the feeling of actually doing this on your own and feeling normal about is the best high ever. good luck time your time with sub. if you taper properly you'll be fine. remember without struggle there is no progress.

I was taking subs for 3 months and I wanted off them, my dr. just kept giving me more. I tapered myself off to a 1/3 of a quarter of a pill then went off. I take Clonidine and Prozac, this is my 8th off subs, I'm still sick, bathroom problems. Does anyone know how long this will last? I'd appreciate any advice I can get.
