Here's my experience. (I'm a 57 yo man) I was on 30mg of Trazodone. At first it worked. But after that year, the drug Seroquel was mentioned for the 100th time bcuz I didn't want to take such a strong med, but the type. After a little research Seroquel IS given at 25mg and 50mg 20 min before sleep. In all transparency, I suffer from Nocturia, a condition that make you wake 3-7 times to pee. I would like to know which generic brand of Seroquel is most effective and also the brands that are least effective? I recently tried Accord and that wasn't effective. My Dr. started me at 300mg on Seroquel is this a safe dose. Im scared to take it. ## I have read that seroquel can be prescribed for up to 600 mg but I have never heard of 300 to start. My pdoc started me at 50mg for two nights, then Im supposed to increase it by 50mg every two nights until we get to 200 mg. Im a 5ft 5 1/2inc woman who weighs 130. Maybe the dosage is depending on your weight- I don't know. ## No. Seroquel, Seroquel XR and other meds have a dose schedule. Look for "prescribing info" from the manufacturer. For Seroquel XR the dose info is clear. The 1st day you take a low dose (50mg). Increase dosage each day. On day 4 take 300mg . If you miss a few days, lower your dose and start over. Take the smallest dose that works or do not take an Antipsychotic.

I am trying to wean myself off of Seroquel. I started at 100mg and weaned myself down to 25. It was fine for a while until anxiety symptoms reoccurred. I am now taking about 3/4 of a 25 mg tablet by shaving it down with a file. I also take .5mg clonopin at night to curb anxiety. The problem is that I am waking up groggy and tired, which is weird because that never happened on the higher dose. But If I try to shave it back to half a pill, I can't sleep and experience bad anxiety. How can I get myself off of this stuff so that I don't get anxious and avoid the tiredness, that sometimes lasts all day? ## I made a mistake. I gained 30 pounds on this drug and I hate it. My Dr prescribed me a high dose of 400 mg at night and then 25 mg three times a day a day for anxiety. I was 1st prescribed seroquel when I entered treatment for alcohol addiction, anxiety, and depression. I am proud to say I am now 5-1/5 years sober and wondering if or why I still need to be on this medicine. I take 100mg @ night along w/ 50mg of Zoloft. My biggest concern is if I will ever get to sleep w/o aid ## If you've been taking them for years, actually even if you've just been taking one of them for years, then the best way to stop taking them would be to do a slow taper. I like to make a public account of my expereience with seroquel or / quetiapine. To be as frank as possible this drug should only be used as your last resort as the negatives far out weigh the positives in my opinion. I took this drug to treat my mild to moderate tactile hallucinations which developed from extreme stress earlier in 2013. I took 25mg of seroquel (50mg cut in half) for about 2 weeks and then I took a full tablet of 50 mg of seroquel for another 2 weeks and then because of the side effects of mild kindey/liver pain plus mild heart pain i began to taper off the drug for another 2 weeks taking about 15mg of seroquel. So I found this pill, It's not seroquel as it doesn't match any of the pictures. It's small round and white, marked 50 on one side, it's blank on the other. The face and back aren't flat like the seroquel pills, they're rounded. I believe it may be Tramadol, though some posts online have said hydrocodone. I really would like to know as my brother is supposed to be clean of opiates and I hope he hasn't relapsed. I hope he isn't abusing anything, but opiates especially!
