Hi, I'm am a 27 year old female. I have currently been experiencing arrhythmias terrible over the last 3 weeks. Waiting for an ablation in Dec, having bad side effects from bisoprolol, shortness of breath, tiredness, feeling generally really ill. My doctor has increased my dose to 5 mg. at the min I have also broken out in terrible spots. Has anyone else experienced this and do they settle? Thank you ## It has been known to cause acne, as a side effect, according to the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. Most side effects are transient and tend to go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, but you could also speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. I have 90 pills of 5/6.25 Ziac tabs. I have a new scrip for 10/6.25 Ziac. My question is can I take two 5/6.25 ziac in place of 1one 10/6.25 ziac until my old scrip is used up?Thanks ## You would be doubling up on the Bisoprolol, which may cause problems, such as severe lowering of your heart rate and hypotension. Learn more Ziac details here. And conversely, it you stop taking this dosage abruptly to try to go back down to the regular dose, you may experience a rebound effect, which might elevate your heart rate and blood pressure. Have you consulted your doctor about doing this? It really would be best if you just switch to the new dosage.

Morn and,Eve..its been about a month since the change and now I'm noticing my vision is alittle of and I get alittle lightheaded. Should I go back down to 2.5 again? ## Have you consulted your doctor? What have your blood pressure levels been? The symptoms you're experiencing might be due to its falling too low, sometimes. However, you'll need to have it checked and discuss any possible dosage change with your doctor.

Is there an alternative? ## For Hypertension or cardiac conditions, there are actually many other medications that are available for you to try. I had a similar problem with the beta blocker class of medications that Bisoprolol is in. The one I am currently using that hasn't caused me any serious problems is Labetalol, so you may want to see if it's available there for you to try. Learn more Labetalol details here. Since taking Bisoprolol 2.5mg my weight has increased. Is there an alternative tablet that can be taken to eliminate the weight gain but still be as effective to my recovery? ## Hello Jacqui! How are you? Unfortunately, possible weight gain is a side effect of virtually all blood pressure and cardiac medications. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, increased urination and hypotension. How much have you gained? What condition is being treated? ## This site has really helped me understand weight gain and Bisoprolol (plus ramipril)... Does anyone have a diet that helps counteract the weight gain? I've tried quite a lot with no joy... ## Hi Margo, I have the same problem, in 12 months I have gained 4 inches on the waist, going from 34 inches to 38 in...

Does anyone know which of the two (Sotolol and Bisoprolol) is less likely to cause side effects such as "numbness and tingling in arms and legs and cold feet" and "excess sweating"? I am 72 years old and had a quad heart bipass 10 weeks ago. On the other hand, which of the two would be more appropriate. ## Based on my observation of each drug's side-effect profile, I would think that "Sotalol" is less likely to cause such symptoms. You can compare the two side-effect profiles using the links below: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a693010.html#side-effects nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a693024.html#side-effects Regarding which one might be more appropriate, would largely depend on your reasoning for taking either of them in the first place, as th...

Was taken 1 tablet daily of bisoprolol/hctz tab 10/6.25. My Dr changed med to lisinopril tab 20mg once a day. Would two tabs of bisoprolo above be the same as the lisinopril? ## Hello, Jack! How are you? No, they are not the same going by what you've listed. The Bisoprolol/HCTZ actually contains 2 ingredients, the Hydrochlorothiazide being a diuretic, so your doctor has basically removed that and has you just taking a blood pressure medication, now. Did your doctor say why they were making the changed?

I am taking bisoprolol 5 mg daily for tachycardia. I now have a lung infection for which I usually take azithromycin and prednisone. How do these pills interact? I desperately need to take the antibiotics, and prednisone, SO i WON'T END UP IN THE HOSPITAL. ## There are no interactions found (in the drug databases I checked in) between Bisoprolol and Azithromycin; however, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist. I did check and find that there "are" interactions between Prednisone and Bisoprolol: Corticosteroids (Prednisone) may antagonize the effects of antihypertensive medications (Bisoprolol) by inducing sodium and fluid retention. Patients on prolonged (i.e., longer than about a week) or high-dose corticosteroid...

What is the difference between Bisoprolol Fumarate and Enderol? Both beta-blockers, that's all I know ## I have received no replies to my question so far. I reside in Alberta and am presently taking 10 mg/dy of Bisoprolol Fumarate. I have talked to others who suggested that Enderol is an equivalent drug that might be an alternative option. Is it? ## Inderal contains the active ingredient Propranolol, so it is also a beta blocker, just as you mentioned. The equivalent dosage may be different, but they treat the same things medically. The side effect profile is also the same and can include: nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Learn more: Is the Bisoprolol working for you? Is it causing problems from side effects? can you overdose on this medication ## It's possible to overdose on any medication, if you take too much of it. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker that is commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Since it does have an effect on heart function and circulation, taking too much of it can result in severely lowered blood pressure and heart rate, either of which could put someone in danger of death. Are there any comments or questions?
