Took a dose 1/21/2011. Started getting hives 2/15/2011, and continue to get them weekly. From what I have seen on the internet, I would say I have angioedema. I am on a anti-histamine regimen, with poor results. Is it possible that the ZMAX is causing this? ## Are you still taking the Zmax? It contains an extended release formulation of the antibiotic Azithromycin, it is used to treat infections. It is specially formulated to continue working for 10 days and while a skin rash can be a side effect of antibiotics, it is very unlikely that it is what's causing it, so longer after you've taken it. What is the use of this drug? ## What is Zimax? ## Zimax bought in mexico, could it be for migraines? ## Did any of you mean Zmax? If so, it is an antibiotic that contains the active ingredient Azithromycin, and is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. It will not help with migraines. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.
