Health Canada issued a warning about Champix (varenicline tartrate) several months after the FDA issued their warning. i just started chantix can I take unisom ## Chantix contains the active ingredient Varenicline and Unisom contains the active ingredient Diphenhydramine and I am not finding any interactions listed between the two, but you should check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. Hi there. I am currently on an antidepressant called Cymgen. I am a smoker and am wanting to quit. There is a new drug out called Champix (Varenicline) and it is a 12 week program to help smokers quit. I would just like to know if it is safe to take this drug while using a seritonin/adrenaline uptake. Tami ## I haven't found any interactions listed, but you should check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. There are some cases where they don't like to prescribe both together, depending on other health issues and other medications you may be on. So, your doctor may prefer that you stop one, or they may want to adjust your dosage. Are there any other questions or comments?

Has anyone experienced suicidal ideation and assault while taking Chantix/Champix ## It is known to cause these problems with some people that take it, thought it is very rare. It is an antidepressant, the active ingredient is Varenicline and most of them are known to cause the opposite of their intended effects in a very small number of people that use them. In the U.S. it carries a black box warning about it on the medication sheet. Is there anything else I can help with?

How long does chantix stay in your system? Could it still be affecting me after 9 months? ## No! There are no medications that stay in your system for that long. The only way you would still be feeling effects was if it had caused some type of permanent body/organ damage, which I am sure would have been detected long ago. I have been on Chanix Now going on 18 day's or 19 ..Only thing i have Notied in side effects ( However i take other meds ) is a like an off and on slight headache on the left side of my forehead an upset stomach , and i am not sure if my Dierreha is the cause of taking Chanix , However on a good Note? i have Cut back enormesslee !! ## My husband has the same affect with stomach acks, He taking them during dinner, Or bed time. My husband started taking Chantix 3 weeks ago and is doing well with not smoking, however, he is a type 2 diabetic but he has also controlled it with diet and Metformin twice daily. Now since he has been on Chantix, his blood sugar level has been over 600. We went to the doctor yesterday and he told him that it was the Chantix and stop taking it. He is watching everything that he eats and drinks and this morning his blood sugar is still 440. The doctor is sending him to a Diabetic Control Center but it is going to be a week or so. I had smoked for almost 30 yrs and started Chanix two weeks ago. I haven't had the urge to smoke since I started, but my main concern is that I have a lot of chest pain. I took Chantix for 12 days. On day 9 I was tempted to quit, as the nausea was awful. Finally (accidentally) found that taking the pill with juice instead of water gave me almost no nausea, so kept going a couple days. The reason I quit taking Chantix is because my ovaries started feeling like they were getting ripped out when I was on my period and again when I ovulated. This scared me as to what it was DOING to my ovaries, as we intended to get pregnant after I quit smoking. I'm 35 and have a history of spontaneous miscarriages.
