I am advised by doctor to take 80 mg telmisartan + 5mg amlodipine for hypertension. But due to unavailability of 80 mg telmisartan I was advised to take 40mg telmisartan+ 5 mg amlodipine morning and 40 mg telmisartan at evening. After taking split dose of telmisartan 40 mg morning and evening I am feeling strange and anxious and unable to sleep smoothly following two three days. What may be the problem?

My blood pressure was 140/110 for which my Dr prescribed Tazloc AM. After about 5 days I checked my blood pressure again and it was 130/96. I had Angioplasty on December 10th, 2016. My Dr. advised me to take Telma AM + Telmisartan 40mg + Amlodipine 5 mg. What is impact of these medications on the heart and blood pressure? Dear sir, I am 60 year old male having hypertension as only health issue. Since last two years I am taking Vincor AM 50/5 ,(a Metoprolol- amlodipine combination) . My BP is well under control ( 80/128). As side effects I have developed Swelling in ankles. According to Doctor it is drug induced edema. he has suggested to change medication to Telsite H (40/12.5). I was taking Twynsta.. which was a combination of 10 mg amlodipine and 80 mg telmisartan for about 5 yrs. I didn't realize that amlodipine had so many side effects which I have been experiencing. Back,side,stomach pain,ankles swelling, muscle weakness and the list goes on.. My Dr took me off the amlodipine a couple days ago. I'm experiencing increased pain in body, legs, ankles. After reading different comments and sites, they warn against stopping suddenly. I'm worried. Dr did not advise or mention withdrawal. I am under treatment of hypertension and abnormality of Left Ventrical (LV has thickened) and also for prostrat enlargement. My age is 56 years. Medicines prescribed:- Telmisartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, Amlodipine, Atorvastain Calcium, Tamsulosin Hydrochloride. What types of foods do you eat? If they are heavily salted and very fatty, that will play a role in causing your blood pressure to be high. It can also be affected by someone's being overweight and being sedentary. So, if you're carrying a few extra pounds, you should work on losing them, preferable via proper diet and exercise, since those both also play a role in lowering it.
