An HIV vaccine is a potential vaccine that could be either a preventive vaccine or a therapeutic vaccine, which means it would either protect individuals from being infected with HIV or treat HIV-infected individuals. It is thought that a HIV vaccine could either induce an immune response against HIV (active vaccination approach) or consist of preformed antibodies against HIV (passive vaccination approach).[1] Two active vaccine regimens, studied in the RV 144 and Imbokodo tri...

Hepatitis B Vaccine, Recombinant Drug Index

Hepatitis B vaccine is a vaccine that prevents hepatitis B.[10] The first dose is recommended within 24 hours of birth with either two or three more doses given after that.[10] This includes those with poor immune function such as from HIV/AIDS and those born premature.[10] It is also recommended that health-care workers be vaccinated.[11] In healthy people routine immunization results in more than 95% of people being protected.&...

Supposed to start hep c treatment next week and my viral load has increased since having this yrs over 65 yr olds flu vaccine. Anybody heard of this happening? I really dont know if it's worth doing treatment. I don't feel sick but was recently diagnosed with copd which is very tiring even without taking something else on top. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks ## According to medical literature, my understanding is that flu-vaccinations can increase one's viral load (temporarily). It is therefore suggested that patients do not measure their viral load within 4 weeks of any vaccination. Please note that my research was based off HIV viral loads and also noted as a "general" statement attributed to flu-shots, but not necessarily specific to Hep C. To be 100% sure, i...

AIDSVAX HIV Vaccine

AIDSVAX is an experimental HIV vaccine that was developed originally at Genentech in San Francisco, California, and later tested by the VaxGen company, a Genentech offshoot.[1] The development and trials of the vaccine received significant coverage in the international media, but American trials proved inconclusive. The vaccine was then tested on a group of at-risk individuals in Thailand. In 1991, AIDSVAX originally consisted of the B envelope of recombinant gp120, a glycopro...

These are much safer than prior HIV combination therapy medications. Less liver and kidney toxicity and less bone calcium catabolism causing osteomalacia. Also, another choice for those that can't tolerate other anti HIV meds. It's once a day and we are blessed to finally get to this point. Since we don't have a vaccine and it's sexually transmitted, HiV potentially effects every sexually active person on the planet. A milestone in the long and winding life with HIV. I survived the AIDS holocaust. At it's peak we were taking 10 bodies per day down to the morgue at the hospital where I worked. At age 22, just out of Nursing School the epidemic started and when co workers began to die., the evidence was overwhelming I would too. My MD sent me as a last ditch hope to a ...
