Thank you so much for your help. ## HI, though they have different ingredients, you would essentially still be doubling up on the same types of medications, so no you most likely shouldn't take them both, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. Getting too much could cause some problems, such as worsening of the side effects. Additionally, since the Phenylephrine can act like a stimulant, adding it with the Dextromethorphan and the Guaifenesin that cause the opposite effect could be very detrimental. How many do you take at a time? ## This tablet contains 325mgs of Acetaminophen, 10mgs of Dextromethorphan, 200mgs of Guaifenesin and 5mgs of Phenylephrine, this is an over the counter cold remedy. That said, the recommended dosing is to start with one tablet, if you experience no relief, take another, but you should stick with the lowest possible effective dose. compare use and effectiveness of maxiphen & musinex ## It really depends on the brand of Mucinex you get, because some packages contain Guaifenesin + Phenylephrine; while the standard brand of Maxiphen already contains both of these. I think the standard Mucinex only contains Guaifenesin from what I can tell (there are many different variations of Mucinex/D/DM/DM For Kids/etc). Some also contain a different combination of Guaifenesin + Dextromethorphan (kids version). That said, there are no differences between these two medications, since they both "can" contain the same active ingredient(s) depending on which one you choose. Don't worry, if you found this its prob because she was feeling sick and brought some to school to relieve symptoms.
