Apomorphine, sold under the brand name Apokyn among others, is a type of aporphine having activity as a non-selective dopamine agonist which activates both D2-like and, to a much lesser extent, D1-like receptors.[1] It also acts as an antagonist of 5-HT2 and α-adrenergic receptors with high affinity. My mother passed away in May and we have about 15 boxes of Apokyn left. It was so expensive and we are still making payments on it. I know it's not always easy to dump something that you originally paid good money for... but due to safety reasons, the FDA actually provides a specific set of guidelines on how to "properly" dispose of any unused portions of Rx medication. On their website they mention that some communities have what's called a "drug take-back program", in which they recommend contacting your local city/county household trash and recycling service to see if there's a safe location you can...
