Based on the description provided, the closest match I could locate is a small, flat, white round pill, marked with "PL" over "5" (and a horizontal score line in between). However it happens to be blank on the other side.

This particular pill is identified as Panafcortelone (prednisolone) 5mg, made in Australia by Aspen Pharmacare.

Prednisolone is in a class of medications called steroids. It prevents swelling and redness by changing the way the immune system works.

You can learn more about this drug on the page for Prednisolone Details

I know that its indications don't appear to be related to sleep disorders, but does this still sound like a possible match?

This is Ketorolac Tromethamine 10mg which is made by Pliva Co and marketed by several generic companies; the brand name is Toradol 10mg. And it carries a National Drug Code of 50111-0608-01. This is an anti-inflammatory pain reliever used for various kinds of pain and is usually dosed as 1 tablet 3 times a day for 5 days due to possible unwanted long-term side effects.
