I have heard that prolonged used of Meloxicam 7.5 can cause liver problems...is this so? and how long is prolonged use?? I take this med for osteoarthritis and have had no difficulties with it over the past year.

Well, no one can really say that for sure, any medication that is processed through the liver has the potential to cause liver problems if taken for a long period of time, it really all depends on your body and how sensitive your liver is to such things. In most cases, you will not find a med to treat any certain condition that IS NOT processed through the liver.

It is just one of the potential hazards of having to use prescription medications. They all have risks and potential side effects, that is why before approving them, the FDA has to carefully weigh the researched information, and why your doctor carefully ways any possible benefits to you as compared to potential risks of using that med.
