Lasix, Klor-con M 20meg

Doctor has RX'd both lasix and KLOR-CON M 20meg for swollen ankle. Is it necessary to take both medications? Can I just take the lasix and rely on the potassium I obtain through the foods that I eat?

It would be best to take them both, if your doctor has prescribed them both. Diuretics, such as Lasix tend to really sap your potassium and it could be dangerous, if it drops too low.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lasix as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination.

The Klor-Con is known to cause stomach pain and upset, so it is best taken with food or a snack.

The advice in your reply sounds logical and I will follow it by taking both meds. thanks, Verwon. An extensive search of the Internet revealed a way to handle those difficult to swallow potassium pills without crushing them; it is dissolving them in water and drinking the water. Again, thanks so much for your reply as it helped me make my decision to take both meds.
