Higher Bp, Stuffy Nose, And Insomnea
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I had no luck with this medication at all. Im sure it works for some but i didnt like it from the first time i took it. My first dose caused me to be dizzy dilusional (hard to think strait or consentrate or anything) my Dr said stay on it to see if it goes away. It did but swelling in my ankles, insomnea, and stuffed up nose and the weirdest thing when i would eat my heart would race and my bp would go through the roof highest i had it was 170/96 . I was on 80mg lisinopril and 10mg amlodipine for 8+ years with no problems but a caugh found out i was allergic to the licinopril. Now my Dr is trying carvidilol so far so good. I just wanted to say you know your body and what will and wont work. There are hundreds if not thousands of bp meds find one you like.

No they took me off of Carvidilol, I have pkd so they wanted to try that med before any others.

They put me on Clonidine 0.15 mg 2x daily it seems to be working well. last reading I took was 123/79. I also take Amlodipine 5mg 2x daily with it. It seems to do the job.

I was on a host of different meds for a while i look 5 different meds in 2 weeks because i kept having adverse reactions to them. This new one Clonidine was rough at first. I got dizy about an hour after taking it and couldnt focus and that went away after a few doses and horrible dry mouth i mean horrible to the point my lips would chap over night. That went away recently too. So im very pleased with it.

Im glad you found a med that works for you with no real bad side affects.

You are correct, you do know your body better than anyone else and will be the first to recognize anything unusual.

I had similar problems with quite a few blood pressure/cardiac medications and we had to try several difference ones, before finding some that worked for me, without causing me any severe side effects.

Learn more Carvedilol details here.

I was on Carvedilol for awhile, it is known to cause fewer side effects than most others, so it usually works pretty well. But the one warning I would give is to pay attention if you're hands and feet start feeling really cold all the time and your digits go numb, even in mild or warm temperatures, because it can cause Reynaud's in some people.

If you start experiencing such symptoms, they don't usually go away and you'll likely need to switch medications.

Is that the only one you are on now, or do you also take something else?
