Hello, Janice! How are you?

In your son's case, you shouldn't give him anything, without his doctor's approval. His health is still very fragile and the slightest misstep could be a disaster.

What other medications is he taking?

How far underweight is he?

The FDA classifies this medication as an antihistamine and its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth.

I gained weight from taking the pill. But everyone is different. I don't think it would hurt to try, they will make you drowsy. But that will go away in time.
