US pharmaceuticals are required by law to bear some sort of marking for identification. So if it really is a benzodiazepine analog such as Etizolam, it's more than likely counterfeit or foreign. Unfortunately the only way to know for certain would be to have its contents analyzed by a lab; especially since counterfeits can be made to look physically identical...

Personally I would safely dispose of it unless you are able to get it analyzed. It may be worth the investigation to find out for 1) if you can really trust whom ever it was that gave it to you... and 2) for assured peace of mind.

You could also try purchasing one of those drug panel kits from a pharmacy and see what type of substance or drug class it's related to. However, false readings can sometimes make this option deceiving.

Does anyone else have advice to share?
