Why Was Baralgin Banned In Usa

I was recently given baralgin-m by my doctor for severe menstrual cramps. I found out later it was banned, why?

I would like to know which over the counter pain medication I can be take instead of garalgin pain medication?

It was killing competitors in the US, the best analgesic and antispasmodic. It was a product of hoechst germany, manufacturers of good quality products.

I have used Baralgin in the 1960s when practicing abroad, superb antispasmodic/ analgesic for any kind of visceral colic, cheap too, not addictive, a Hoechst rep told years ago that they did not seek FDA approval as it was not a money spinner, I believe the drug had rare but significant side effects
