Viagra/cialis - Not Covered By Insurance.
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I'm currently taking an SSRI that has made me think I could use some help from Cialis, a drug I've used in the past. However, it seems like my current insurance doesn't cover it, and both Cialis and Viagra are exorbitantly expensive. I'm wondering if I have any recourse?

Look up Pharmalabs, located in St Petersburgh, FL. They have a web page. They may be able to help you with the cost of Cilais. My doctor is treating my bph with Cilais and is working wonderfully. The side effects are amazing. Good luck.

My doctor first prescribed Cialis for me about 15 years ago. It is effective and, in fact, the result is amazing. I've been through 3 or 4 different medical insurers over the years and they have all covered most of the cost of this drug. Most recently, with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, I was getting 6 pills every 30 days at a cost of $30 per month. On October 1, 2016, my employer switched to Cigna and Cigna tells me that my plan doesn't cover Cialis. They also told me several times "But Cigna will permit you to purchase the drug through your plan." I kept asking "So, I'm permitted to pay the full price of the drug while Cigna pays nothing?", thinking the irony was obvious. I guess it wasn't. I also found that Cialis is listed on Cigna's formulary and the people I spoke to all acknowledged that is was listed. They all simply added "But your plan doesn't cover it." Since I have a PPO plan administered under my company's HRA option, I can't imagine what plan does cover it. Nor could any of the Cigna representatives with whom I have spoken. I work for a small company with a dysfunctional Human Resources group and I'd prefer not to have to go to them and say "Why won't our insurance plan cover my Cialis prescription?" After 12 years with no problems, I'm surprised that its only now, and only with Cigna, that this is problematic. I'm sure its only a matter of time before someone in HR or Cigna blames the problem on Obamacare like they do with every other complaint they get. I won't pay $300/month for 6 pills. Has anyone else run into this situation and is there anything that can be done?

Cigna/Healthspring doesn't cover Viagra and I feel it would be very helpful to my recovery from two back surgeries that Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn Michigan had persuaded me into having, in which they partially paralyzed me from my waist down. I am not getting the blood flow I had gotten before they butchered me. They lied to my lawyers and I could not even sue them because they refused to give us my records in the time that was allowed by this screwed up state in which they withheld evidence and I believe had paid my lawyers off to forget the legal case I had against them. Anyway it's bad enough doctors ruined my life (Dr. Nilesh Patel) now insurance wants to ruin the little bit of pleasure I could possibly have. Shame on all of you! And you especially, Cigna/HealthSpring.

Hello, Mike! How are you?

Have you checked the prices on the generics?

Another idea would be to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication to replace the SSRI, that may not cause you such a side effect.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of ED medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, blurred vision and stuffy nose.
