Testosterone Injections

Updated

I began getting testosterone injections of 200 ml every other week. I have had 4 injections so far, and I am very pleased that my sex drive is increasing...at least I masturbate now and some morning even wake up with wood, which has not happened for a long time. Prior to injections I was on Androgel for 2 months and felt nothing from it. I happened to miss my Dr appointment this week, so I will be getting my injection 4 days late. Could those 4 days make much of a difference? I am very concerned because I don't want my sex drive to go back down. Also, I am considering doing the injections myself, rather than go to Dr's office. I have been receiving the injections in my butt. Is that difficult to do by yourself? And since I am right handed, will I be able to always inject in my right cheek? And where do you buy the needles and syringes? Walgreens told me that they do not sell 18 gauge needles which is needed to suck up the testosterone into the syringe. I greatly appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks.

OK, so basically I found the answers to my questions on my own. I am going to start injecting myself next week. I have read online that its better to do 100 mg every week instead of 200 every other week. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Thanks.

I almost passed out the first time I tried to give myself the shot. I put the stuff in a drawer and told my doc that I couldn't do this on my own. I haven't done anything since last night. I got the stuff out again and only by watching a YouTube video of a dr. demonstrating how to do it by yourself w/minimal pain. I followed his directions and I had no issues. Now I get to wait and see results! GL

Well, today I did my 3rd injection on my own. It is getting easier. I am surprised when people say its painful, because I don't feel any pain at all injecting in my butt.

I do mine in the top front part of my leg. How do you manage to do it as you describe?

Does it hurt when you do it in your thigh? I have seen people on You Tube doing it in their thigh, and of course that would be easier. When I mentioned it to the nurse who has been giving me the injection until recently, she said she never heard of that (which surprised me). I didn't think I would be able to do it myself in the butt, but it gets easier once you get the hang of it. I stand in front of a mirror (pull my underwear down, of course, lol) and inject the upper outer portion. I hold the needle at a 90 degree angle to my butt, and stick it in fast without hesitation. And truthfully it does not hurt at all. I am injecting weekly now, so I rotate cheeks every week. I really am curious though if it hurts the way you do it, in your thigh.

Yesterday was the first time I tried injecting in my thigh. I was nervous because I saw a video on U Tube and the guy flinched in pain. Well I had absolutely no pain at all, so I don't get why people say its so painful. It's much easier in the thigh than the butt...

Jeff,
I have done it the 3rd time now and I don't even flinch anymore. I'm glad that it worked out for you, also.
Agreed, I think the idea of giving yourself a shot is the biggest hurdle to overcome. Once you do it by watching someone else (You Tube), it's a cinch.
Have you noticed any difference? If I may ask.

Hi Brian,
Actually, a month ago when I started injecting myself, instead of doing 200 mg every other week, I started doing 100 mg every week, because I read that it's better (but there are so many different opinions on line about the method of injecting, where to inject, how many times a week, etc) that its difficult to trust these opinions. But I do know that in the last 2 weeks my sex drive has gone down again. And sex drive is the only positive thing that the T has given me. It has not given me more energy, mentally feeling better, etc. But my sex drive was the reason I began taking the T in the first place. I have a follow up appointment with my urologist next week, and hopefully he will give me some guidance. But I still will inject in my thigh instead of butt from now on. It is so much easier. And I do not understand how anyone who injects in the butt can aspirate...how the hell can they see if there is blood in the needle...I certainly cannot, lol.
