mitussindac cough syrup

cough syrup, available in pharmacies in USA, but not listed in PDR. Unsure of ingredients, manufacturer or spelling. I don't believe it contains narcotics. ## I think the med you're referring to is Mytussin DAC. It contains the ingredients Codeine + Guaifenesin + Pseudoephedrine (yes, it contains a narcotic) ## Troy is correct. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and nervousness. Are there any questions I can help with?

taking Mytussin AC Syrup if it is 2 years old

I had Bronchitis, in July of 2005 I got a prescription for Mytussin AC Syrup, I only took it until my cold was gone and then quit taking it and didnt throw it away. It is now March of 2007 and I have Bronchitis again. Would it be bad and what could happen if I took my medicine I have?? ## Mine is 3 yrs old and I just drank some and I had some last night. It smells really strong, but I didn't get any xtra sick, can't say if it really helped my cough though ## This contains Codeine, Guaifenesin and Pseudoephedrine. That said, there is nothing in this that creates a danger past the expiration, however, it should not be kept/used, because the components do break down and lose their effectiveness, so you will not get good results, like you probably did when it was new.
