My Doctor Prescribed Losartan 100mg #13

Doctor prescribed this pill for high blood pressure 100mg. On the back of the pill is a #13 and the pill is round medium sized. Anyway I ran out of medicine and I went to the pharmacy but the pill is now oval 100mg #13 and now is twice as big as the round pill that I was taking before. I am so scared that they made a mistake on the medicine. It looks bigger than the one that I was taking. I went to the drug store and the lady that works there told me that is the same thing. It's just that they change manufac. (please help) I did not start that second oval pill yet.

A white, oval tablet with the number 13 on it is manufactured by Virtus Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 100mgs of Losartan.

The size can sometimes vary from one manufacturer to another, depending on the inactive ingredients used during manufacture.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension.

thank you for answering back....when you said that the medicine losartan 100mg 13 plus is oval..... can cause hypotension does that mean that my blood pressure instead of going down can go up? I do not understand what hypotension means...please explain....thanks Maria

I'm joe,I got scared when I saw the pill I'm putting it in half and try it that way first it sure is big but I feel better that my blood pressure is down so I'm going to do what the doctor recommends.

the same thing happened to me. I questioned this size increase as well. I was told by my primary doctor to NOT take drugs that were manufactured in India, since he heard they use a lot of "fillers" in their pills. I was even told that the fillers can be crushed glass! The oval larger pill is manufactured in India and my guess is that it has fillers. There is no reason for this pill to be bigger in size when they can make another brand much smaller. I requested to my pharmacist that I did NOT want pills manufactured in India.
